About
Discover the iconic Big Banana, a must-visit gem born from the vision of John Landi in 1964. Seeking to captivate passing traffic, he drew inspiration from Hawaii's "Big Pineapple" and, with the help of local engineer Alan Chapman and a 1200-pound investment, turned the idea into reality. Constructed by builder Alan Harvey, The Big Banana, Australia's first "Big Thing," opened its doors on December 22, 1964. Today, The Big Banana has evolved into a vibrant Fun Park, proudly featuring the largest Water Park between Sydney and the Gold Coast, an Ice Skating Rink, Toboggan Ride, "The World of Bananas" theatre, Laser Tag arena, 36-hole Mini Golf Course, the country's biggest Giant Slide "The Racer," Go Bananas Fun Zone, 4D Ride Simulator, Gift Shop, Going Bananas Cafe, Candy Making Kitchen, Opal Centre, Steve McEwans Reptile World and more. Experience "a whole bunch of fun" at The Big Banana Fun Park!

    Disappointing and overpriced
Hadn't been here for years and took my 2 and 4 year old and was pretty disappointed. Most of the stuff required the kids to be over a certain height so there wasn't a lot we could do. The water park was expensive for the kids - the 2 year old wasn't allowed on the water park, so there was nothing for him to do in there. Overall It was overpriced and overrated. Won't be going back.
Thank you for your feedback. May we ask when it was that you visited us? We have made additions to our Fun Park to cater for the under 5-year-olds such as our Demolition Derby ($6) & Aqua Play area in the Water Park ($13.50) 3+ year olds may also ride the Giant Slide ($8) & Toboggan ($8) with an 18+. We also have Mini Golf which is a great family friendly activity. ($11) Kindest regards, The Big Banana Fun Park

Typically fun BIG thing. Go in the morning.
A bit like all 'big things' but that's what I expected. Nice cafe. Friendly people. Yummy banana themed products. If you want a good shot with the big banana go in the morning. In the arvo it's in shadow.
We're glad you had a good time! We are definitely unique compared to other 'Big Things' as we have a huge Fun Park behind The Big Banana. This includes a Water Park, Bumper Cars, Escape Rooms, Giant Slide, and more! Make sure to come check it out next time you're in town.

    Well worth a visit.
This is a great family fun park! We are a bit old for the rides and some attractions but we still went twice. My wife went straight to the Opal Centre, ouch! The Shop has plenty to offer and the Cafe has so much to choose from. This is a must visit when you are in Coffs.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope to see you again soon!

    Great family day out
Awesome family day out, we bought the unlimited passes for 5, about $360 but fun for everyone! All ages and unlike big theme parks where not everyone can do all the activities, families can stay together and do it all. They really put safety and cleanliness to a high standard. Great day, recommend!

    Great day out
Fun for our 4yr 8yr olds to adult. Be careful on the 4d for the younger kids its pretty full on (canyon vid). We enjoyed: Water park, laser tag, ice skating, toboggan, all excellent. Cafe portion size for $28 fish and chips (all clearly from frozen) was woeful or perhaps merciful considering the quality. Staff were all friendly.
We're so thrilled you had a good time! Hope to see you again soon!

Fun family firsts at the Big Banana
Adding a visit to the Big Banana turned out to be a surprising favourite highlight for our family road trip. Attractions we visited: Giant slide: Five star fun! The considerable trek up the hill to get to the top of the slide was absolutely worth it. Good indoor activity. Our kids who don't love heights put their fear aside and had smiles ear to ear on this! Toboggan: Five star fun! Terrific experience, scenic views. Tip: Drive up to the top carpark to get a photo of the course to go with the photos and videos you may take on the toboggan. 4D experience: We'd rate this four stars. Long waiting times overall, especially to get our family of four to be seated all together for a session. (7 seats were open for each session on the day we visited.) We were worried we wouldn't fit our two sessions in during our visit. Didn't realise the session times rotate i.e. you can't pre-plan which session to do; it's luck of the draw for what is on when your group gets to the top of the line, unless you keep forgoing your turn until you get into a show you want. We saw Dino Safari 2 and Canyon Coaster, which turned out to be our favourite. It's a pricey experience, and if I visited again, I would give this a miss and opt for a third go on the slide and toboggan for us all. Tip: we found the queues much faster in the late afternoon when alot of visitors had left. Things to note: *We bought a three-attraction combo. It came as a bundle of paper tickets, one for each ride (i.e. for us, 8 x tickets to the slide, 8 x tickets to the toboggan, 8 x tickets to 4D experience). Apparently these never expire, so if you don't get to complete all of the activities on your visit, you can use them at another time in the future. *No booking times required for any of our activities (I wasn't sure about this from looking at the website). Just arrive and join a queue at each activity. Overall: Appreciated the convenient parking. Took the obligatory photo in front of the Big Banana. Was a considerable cost for our visit but when we broke it down, the price per person was reasonable. Thanks for the opportunity to make some fun memories for our family!
Thanks for the wonderful review! We're glad you found our Fun Park affordable and well worth the value. We hope to see you again soon as we have brand new rides and attractions as of January 2024!

    Fun but be cautious
Was a great day apart from the wife copping a nice bruise to the side of the head when she got thrown sideways at the bottom of the middle drop down slide. All the others were great but that drop down slide can shoot you sideways into the wall down the bottom if you’re not careful. Toboggan was fun but not long enough and you can get caught behind people going too slow
We're thrilled to hear you had a great time! We're sorry to hear your wife had a little bump. Our whole team is trained on first aid so you can always feel comfortable going to them for assistance when the fun goes a bit overboard!

Great fun but warning re online tickets
Great water park for our 6 and 4 year olds, something for everyone, also the giant slide is great fun but I don't recommend the bumper cars. Only downside is disorganised ticket system. We purchased tickets on line to save the que but ended up being sent to the main entrance and the biggest que to sort the tickets.
So thrilled to hear you had a great time! We appreciate your feedback and are working to improve our ticket system. Hope to see you again soon!

    Escape Room Fun
Took my 15yo daughter and her friends to the new escape rooms. They had so much fun. The game master staff were so friendly and helpful, they really made it a special experience (what a cool job!).
Thanks for coming! We're so glad you enjoyed our new Escape Rooms. Hope you can make it back again soon to challenge yourself in another room :)

The Quirky Australian Penchant for Big Things
Like Vegemite and and Tim Tams, ’big things’ are a quirky Australianism. Just why Australians have a penchant for big things is a mystery but they have become synonymous with a NSW coastal road trip. We therefore kept an eye out for the Big Banana as we passed through Coffs Harbour. It sits prominently alongside the highway. Heading north, it’s on your left just after the Coffs Harbour township. Even if you don’t stop, it’s easy to see from your car. According to some, the Big Banana was the first of these giant novelty sculptures. 13m long and 5m high, it was created in 1964 by an enthusiastic banana plantation owner who was keen to boost sales of bananas at his roadside stall. He exceeded his wildest dreams. Nowadays The Big Banana has a banana themed souvenir shop, a giant slide, and a water and fun park attached to it. You pay an entry fee for these but you can take your banana photo for free. Big Banana done. Next stop - Ballina and the Big Prawn.
Thanks for the wonderful review!! Hope to see you again soon!

We're sorry to hear that you didn't have the best experience at The Big Banana Fun Park. We see you did come during Easter Weekend which is when there are many smiling faces around our park, and typically longer wait times for rides which are usually around 45 minutes. We hope you come back when it's not a public holiday as you can ride the rides and attractions many times over the duration of the day.

The family had a nice time here. Bit expensive but plenty to do. Was happy to utilise the services after a disappointing morning at the dolphin park.

We're glad you had a good time here at The Big Banana Fun Park! Our prices do vary and people can enjoy the park with free entry, or even just $9 for attractions like our Giant Slide! Make sure next time you come by to talk with our Ticket Team to build the best package deal that suits your budget.

The ticket deals are great and rides fun but we found lunch at the restaurant expensive. We had the pancakes which we had to leave. They were raw and lacked sauce and filling. Talk your lunch with you.

Ticket:
I would suggest unlimited for $60odd for adults and kids. Each ride costs about $10-20 each.
The exemption to this is the water park and if you didn’t buy unlimited pass you need to select a specific time period which is set every 1.5 hrs.

Rides:
Mini golf - there are two sides left and right. Each side has 18 holes. Same as most mini golf places nothing unusual here.

Giant slide:
Grab a sack walk 20-30 meters up a slope to the top and race down. This is extremely quick and feels you are going 100kms and hour to a point that I was mid air for .001 seconds and that you are going to crash at the bottom. Don’t worry when you reach the bottom the sack stops immediately by itself no matter how fast you go.
We did this 8-10 times. Without unlimited pass this would have cost $80 each or more.

4D ride simulator:
This is about a 5-8 mins ride. Its intense so anyone who is young ones need to tell them not to relax their head on the seat or they may get abit of a headache. The chair moves violently, air is pressured in your face.

Toboggan ride:
This is about an hour wait. Depending on your thrill can be fast or slower. The issue with this ride if you are stuck before people who don’t like enthralling speed. You are not going to have a good experience.
We had a group of 5 pple where an older lady went first and held up her entire group. The organises then decided to give the entire group another go straight away.
This pissed off the entire line and we couldn’t understand why they could have another ride.

Water park:
This is fantastic ! Good for young and old.
Lots of slides for the young ones and the older kids have these giant slides.
There were two main giant steps but only one was operating. when you walk up the stairs you are presented with 3 slides.
-first slide are for older kids that need to have this 8 shaped float that fits two pple, the waiting time is huge for this slide.
-second slide is in the middle for kids who want a fast exhilarating slide, you grab a mat and off you go.
- third slide are for kids younger 8-10 yr olds, don’t be like me and take this ride as there is not enough water to slide you down. Trust me I ain’t that fat

World of nanas tour / theatre.
I suggest doing this at end of day. This is located at the exit of the 4D ride. It’s self guided where you walk about 5-10 mins through the plantation. There are several plagues where you can read all about bananas, then there is a 15 mins theatre at the end where it talks about the origins of banana plantations in Coffs Harbour an surrounding areas. After that you go into the restaurant to have ice cream, bananas fritters etc then take a picture before you go.

Laser tags/ ice skating didn’t have time to go.

Overall really great couldn’t believe we spent 7 hours here.

Great value for money, lines weren't too long for our kids, Waterpark and ice skating is the best value for money, if you don't want the unlimited day pass each activity can be done separately..
