We had a group of 12 people and stayed two nights. Food great beer wine reasonable price. The river great to swim and bath. The lodge could improve the shower And access to it plus the loo was not the best after two days. However,...More
The Six Foot Track is more of a challenge than a rewarding hike as spectacular views are limited. I recommend doing it in between March to September as water is only available at campsites and streams along the track and recommended to be filtered before...More
I only did the section from Katoomba to Megalong Cemetery (and back) in a day trip. Spectacular views on the first section (from Katoomba to Nellies Glen). Be prepared for a steep descent of 20-30 mins. But the steps are generally in good shape with...More
Just hiked the trail over 3 days from jenolan to Katoomba. Was pretty in some sections - first 10km and last 10km. The rest was fire trail with no view and just went on and on. Definitely recommend doing it in the Jen->Katoomba direction because...More
We started at Jenolan Caves so that we wouldn't experience too much time pressure, and also because my knees are not good on long steep descents. We thought the walk worked well in this direction.
The first day up through the woods is delightful. Black...More
If you have an older 6Ft Track guide book (like myself) it probably says that there are no facilities at Alum Camp Site.........no tables, no water tanks, no toilets.
You will be pleased to know that all of these facilities have fairly recently been added....More
A beautiful track however you have to be in the mindset to "Finish, Push on" if you get my drift. Usually the people who dislike the track don't have the right physique however if you are well prepared it can be done in two days...More
For those who want to do this trek, make sure you are well equipped with supplies such as food, water filter or steripen, tent, sleeping bag and good hiking boots.
Day 1 make sure you look behind you as the views are just spectacular
We went to do part of this track, from Megalong Valley Road to the Cox's river. We took our dog with us as reviewers below stated they took their dogs. Please note, you are NOT permitted to take dogs on this track, there are numerous...More

Yes I would catch the train to Katoomba, we booked a bus back which was $50 one way and they only ran once a day from Jenolan back to Katoomba at 3 so make sure on the 3rd day you start your walk early if you are doing it this way. If not I would pre-book your cab as you won’t get much reception at jenolan.
I would stay overnight at Katoomba if you have the time or just catch the train back to Sydney
