We paid to have a guided tour of Wombeyan Caves but were not told that there would be ladders to climb down (quite a few). As I have a fear of heights, I could not enter the cave. The tour guide was lovely and gave...More
Our second time visiting wombeyan caves , the first time we went through the figtree self guided cave, also in great condition for a non monitored tour.
Today we went through the wollondilly cave with our guide Laurie,

We camped in a tent at the campground,
The kids loved it, as the kangaroos and possums would come right up to our tents at night time.

The caves themselves and the drive from Mittagong are dramatic and beautiful, but the destination is appallingly neglected. Management needs to take a hard look at the visitor experience it provides - the information, facilities and grounds are truly third-world standard...

If you’re in the Mittagong Bowral area and you want to take in a cave tour it’s worth the drive down to Wombeyan Caves.

The caves are breath taking!
The self guided tour is easy and child friendly.

It is worth it and suitable for ages 5 and up.

There is water, kitchens and toilets. Very family friendly area.
The cave tours...More

I didn't camp there, but i tis down in a valley, so it should be quite sheltered. As for other attractions, its is mostly farm land and forest around. There is not much to delay you in Taralaga, but there might be some things to see in Goulburn if you are coming that way. On the way up from Canberra, I stopped to take a look at Lake George which is quite curious.
