very interesting trains from the one the queen road in and how things have changed, a prison carage it was a very dark place, to the country trains, steam diesel, and so much more, they have people come to work on the old, to revive just because they love what they do

Trainworks didn't disappoint today with the Thomas the Tank Engine and friends day out! Our goddaughters little mind was blown with excitement. So many things to entertain the kids, from meeting the Fat controller to blowing Thomas's whistle, face painting, smaller trains, jumping castles and a play ground. Best part was having a ride on Henry the steam train! There... More

A good day out with the toddler. Enough Thomas the Tank Engine stuff to keep the kid entertained plus more grown up trains and carriages for the older kids and adults. There is not much shade outside, so can be quite uncomfortable on a hot summer's day. And gets crowded on special event days such as Thomas days. Book well... More

This is an extensive complex with many vintage train cars and both steam and diesel locomotives on display....many you can actually enter. We traveled from Sydney by train with a change at Campbelltown to the Southern Highlands line...any easy walk across the platform to a waiting diesel train that operates hourly in either direction. Ironically there is no train service... More

I remember visiting the trains at Thirlmere when I was a child, so I was very excited to take my 4 year old son to see Trainworks. We saw many many types of trains and rail related exhibits. The adults loved the fascinating history of rail in NSW and Australia, while my son enjoyed walking through the several open carriages... More

Plenty of trains to see and explore. Free parking, there is also a small cafe. Make sure to have plenty of room in the car if the children going to prepare the cupboard train model.

We spent a very interesting 4 hours at this fascinating place. We had driven past previously and thought it looked very interesting so made a point of coming back to visit. We have not been disappointed - what an amazing place with such a great display of history. I am not a train buff but just loved the displays. The... More

We are not train buffs but enjoyed a couple of hours exploring the rail history and trains. If you are a rail buff you would want to spend ALL day as there are SOOO many trains and exhibits to see!!! Take a picnic as the cafe is closed and plenty of picnic areas.
