The National Zoo & Aquarium is privately owned and Australia's only combined Zoo and Aquarium. That's 2 attractions in one! We are situated on around 7 hectares of land just five minutes from the centre of Canberra. With a wide variety of both native and exotic animals, as well as the largest inland saltwater tank in Australia, there is something for everyone. Wander in and have a casual stroll around the park, or make a day of it with family, friends and make use of our picnic areas and complimentary BBQ facilities. Our Animal Encounters provide visitors with an opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the worlds most amazing creatures!

This zoo is beautiful, the whole layout, the enclosures absolutely exceptional. Negatives, zoo is small only takes about 2 hrs if you are not doing an animal encounter also bit on the rich side as it is more expensive than taronga which is twice the size. Cafe is very average & very expensive. My advice go early in morning, so... More

Animal section was fantastic, great detail to show the trail to follow so you didn't get lost and you didn't backtrack only if you wanted to, the aquarium was disappointing I thought it was bigger 😭which was sad. Sad to see sharks in small tanks unless their was more I couldn't see

Hi katiekerr1, thank you for your review - glad you enjoyed your visit. Yes, our Aquarium is not as grand as the major stand alone Aquariums which are attractions in themselves - but is the only inland exhibit of its kind. It is really another aspect of the Zoo and houses all our reptile, frogs and fish exhibits. The shark... More

Having not long ago been to the Perth Zoo I had no great expectations however I was pleasantly surprise about the size of the zoo and the nice enclosures. The only thing missing was maybe more toilets and stations where you could buy drinks. I was spoilt with this in Perth. There were lots of guides around explaining about the... More

Family of 5 visited the zoo including out young adult children and we were all very impressed. The zoo was clean and tidy, easy to find everything and with the lay out of the area and the easy to follow arrows showing which way to go next you couldn't miss out on seeing any of the exhibits. All the animals... More

Much bigger than I expected, I didn't get to see all of it. Peacocks flying about, the Cheetah rolling on to her back for a belly rub ( didn't take that opportunity ) tigers, lions - and SO much more. Cafeteria a little on the pricey side, but it IS a tourist attraction, and prices are a reflection of this.... More

The zoo was quite good. It was laid out a little differently. The map was a little hard to follow, but it was a nice afternoon out. We had a good day to just walk around the entire zoo.

What a delightful setting, a real pleasure to walk around, lots of shade and trees. Such a nice zoo. We allowed two hours to see the zoo itself and that was about the right time. It is - at the moment - quite compact but they are expanding and it will soon be quite substantial. We booked a Zooventure tour... More

Hi optionalextras, thank you for your review and we are pleased you enjoyed your ZooVenture Tour. To clarify, the maximum number of participants on the tour is 11 which is a good size to allow a mix of couples and family members to participate and still be an intimate group. If you join the tour on a weekday however, the... More

I love animal experiences and book them at every place i go that has them avaliable. This tour was absolutely incredible. I was able to interact, pat, feed and spend time with so many beautiful amazing animals. Everything from feeding tigers to having meerkats climb on me. I had two keepers with me - sarah and amanada they were amazing... More

After visiting several years ago I was surprised how much more they'd advanced this project. We took our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter and she loved it, refusing to sit in her stroller and preferring to walk around in the "jungle". The entry fee was high - $33 for seniors but free for the under 4's. It was a sunny... More
