History

Lots of history and you can learn by just reading as you walk around. At the moment the pumps are out of order so the jet isn't working.

As well as a good place to chill out, it is also a good picnic spot. It is also a great area to view the fireworks but you need to get there early to secure a spot so take shade and make a day of it.

It's lovely when it's going but it's not and there is no definite time for when it will be back in action.

When I lived in Canberra it was great to see this water feature on the weekends. Alas this visit it wasn't working and I'm told by staff when it's finally repaired it will only work on "Special occasions". And that's a pity

The artificial water yet is an icon and can be seen far way. I think that this is the best attraction that Lake Burley Griffin has to offer; it certainly is an eye catcher.

This has not worked in over six months. There is now talk of once repaired limiting its operation. Impressive when working.

We spent a few days in Canberra and went by several times and it just wasn't working. We spoke to a few locals who told us this was commonplace and when it was working its nothing to get excited about

Whether you are sitting at Regatta Point, or walking the gardens or lake or best of all paddle boating out on Lake Burley Griffin this memorial is gorgeous. Sometimes it creates rainbows. Worth a visit.

When we were kids visiting Canberra from Melbourne we thought that driving past this was a fantastic highlight, especially when the drops fell on the car. These days I think it's fair to say that the fountain is hardly ever switched on apart from Australia Day. And you know, it's just a jet of water in a stinking artificial lake.

This memorial to Captain James Cook, the British explorer and navigator who first charted some of the east coast of Australia, is uninspiring and banal. It consists of some huge pumping machinery in Canberra's Lake Burley Griffin capable of throwing a six ton jet of water to a maximum height of 147 meters. So much for modern technology. If there...
