Went recently to see the Versailles exhibition, which was great. It was very busy, and I found it odd that the text panels in each gallery was placed in the walkways, which always caused pile-ups in the entrance of each room. It was also a bit confusing with the audio tour pick up, as there any signs explaining that you... More

The garden out to the lake is a highlight. A beautifully rounded collection of sculpture that the country has purchased through the years for the good of the people. A joy to behold. As was the interior with something for everyone

A wonderful exhibition for kids to enjoy some craft, building, slippery slides and story time. 2 yo thoroughly enjoyed them self. Ask the staff for child friendly main galleries and create firm rules about touching to young children. There is no sympathy from the staff which is understandable. I started in the outdoor sculpture garden saying They could touch outside... More

Wonderful Exhibitions over good length periods so you can visit when it suits you. If you choose mid week it is usually not too busy.

Arriving at the Gallery not quite sure what to expect (it was organised by someone else). The entry is free and has a range of art to view. There is a large section of aboriginal art - the largest (7500). The plaques to the side didn't give you much information so was hard to understand - as the artist probably... More

The National Gallery of Australia has many wonderful and well known paintings, however also see (and walk into) the sculptures. The garden areas are perfect for a picnic and can be enjoyed at no cost.

The James Turrell Skyspace was recommended to us by a cafe owner in Kingston. Words just don't do justice to this incredible art installation adjacent to the National Gallery, located in beautiful landscaped gardens near the front entrance of the gallery (look for the pear sculptures and keep walking). Best times to visit are sunrise and sunset - when the... More

A highlight of my trip to Canberra this month was a trip to the gallery. Easy parking underneath the gallery and free on the Sunday we went. Great spaces to view the collections. But the highlight for me would have to be a superb collection of Sydney Nolen's Ned Kelly series, although others would be delighted with the Monet or... More
