The Lake is one of the iconic features of Canberra. Its central to town centre and has lovely walkways around it, some say 27km, yet I cannot confirm that. We went to the National Gallery and stopped at the lake for the photo opportunity. Unfortunately the famous lake water spout was not working on our trip which was a shame.... More

at 27kms around the entire lake, it can be a bit of a hike. some places around here probably should be avoided if only because of the bike traffic more than anything else as some bike riders can be, shall we say, "less than considerate". those places are generally in the Kingston foreshore and between the two bridges. I've been... More

I have done this walk many times now and am not tired of the Lake's beauty as the sun rises over the hills and mountains in the distance. It is a good 19-21 km walk with heaps of flora and fauna to take in as well as meeting up with people from all walks of life. Many times, we found... More

Take a walk from bride to bride, being Commonwealth Avenue Bride and Kings Avenue Bride. Along the way you will see Blundell's Cottage, Rond Terrace looking up Anzac Parade towards the Australian War Memorial, Regatta Point (you can stroll into Floriade when it's on), National Library of Australia, Questacon, National Portrait Gallery, National Gallery of Australia, stroll a little further... Lake Burley never ceases to amaze me with its beauty in Autumn, so so stunning. Do yourself a favour and walk around the lake and watch the reflection of the colours on the water and around the lake. Truly a beautiful place.

We had free bike hire from our hotel and had a great time riding around the lake - great way to see some of what canberra has to offer.

This is always somewhere to visit for us when we visit Canberra, no matter what season it is. The Segway tours are awesome in Spring as its not too hot, walks around the Lake in Winter and Autumn are always great, especially around the new Kingston developments with its little cafes etc - its getting quite trendy and popular with... Lake Burley Griffin is an artificial lake in the middle of the city of Canberra. The lake adds charm to the city. Now it has some mature trees around it, it is even more scenic. It's worth a walk around on a warm day. In winter, the wind can get very cold, as I found to my cost, when I... More
