Walter Burley Griffin's design

Great views over the city of Canberra, designed by Walter Burley Griffin. Tribute to this largely under estimated architect who has finally gained some recognition in Australia.

We visited Canberra on a sunny evening and it's worth making the trek to Mount Ainslie if you have your own transport as the views over the city are stunning.

A nice excursion minutes from Canberra's cbd. Plenty of parking and meandering paths. The views are spectacular

A bit of a twisty drive up then plenty of parking when at the top.The only reason to come up here is the view and you get a great one over the city especially down the Anzac walk to the parliament building. It also allows you a good view of the way the capital is laid out geometrically.

Gives a wonderful vista of Canberra and a lot of information at the viewpoint, to explain the history of how the City was developed.

I was not expecting to enjoy this outing as much as I did. The lookout features Parliament and the war memorial predominantly. The downside is that there are no public toilets. I would definitely recommend having a look, but I do hope they install a toilet in the future

Always worth a visit on a clear day to gain a perspective of greater Canberra and it's attractions. The day we visited was the day the Queanbeyan grass fire started. Terrifying, even from many kilometers distant.

Mount Ainslie is one of the best places to view most of Canberra. Looking down from the war memorial to old & new parliament houses. Views of the Woden and Belconnen areas. Great place for visitors to get a full picture of Canberra's layout.

Taking the car up to the viewpoint is well worth the effort. You get an excellent perspective of the city and see how it developed.

From here you can see the plan Burley Griffin had for the expansion of Canberra. Parliament Zone, suburban sprawl, the city. Nice view from the top.
