This was a busy grand Siva temple, and a must for devout . We went the day after Mahasivarathri, and the temple was filled with Darshanarthis. A must visit for devout Shivabhaktas

On our way from a holiday in a Chilaw Hotel we stopped by there! As a child/teenager I have been there with my parent since then and after moved to Europe I never visited it! When I saw it 1st time after so many years, I couldn’t even recognize is this the place I seen during my childhood! Though it is not a very special or modified since then still something there are new, may be new buildings! But, my husband being an ethnic Dane for him it is something new!
One thing is for sure i.e. this Temple is very old temple!

We organised my 7 year old's birthday party at the "ground floor restaurant- 57" in Jetwing Colombo 7 recently and were very very impressed with the quality of service and delivery. Everything was great- the food, cleanliness, the ability of the staff to handle special requests in the last minute, the ability of the staff to work with other vendors incl. those who brought the decor, other party furniture, cake etc. independently, their hospitality and thoughtfulness in dealing with kids and guests and much more. Highly recommend this venue for kids birthday parties. All my guests loved the party and many have already asked for the contact of the place to host their own parties here.

Kudos to the fearless leader Siva who deserves a special mention for his leadership, customer focus and action bias and to his full team- Arjuna, Nihan, Aravinth and all the crew of the Restaurant! Thank you so much team!

A famous religious site and temple complex in Chilaw with shrines to Shiva, Kali, Aiyanna, and Ganesha. The Munneswaram Kovil is very much worth at least a half day visit along with the fabulous but less ancient Murugan Kovil just outside Chilaw. Be aware of touts attempting to direct you to puja stalls when you arrive by car. They are very likely on commission and we purchased exactly the same puja items for half the price (1000 not 2000! lkr) just outside the main roadside entrance and next to the Ganesha shrine.

Interestingly, the Kali shrine also contains a famous area for making curses... A very small fenced/gated area for placing the curse whilst breaking a coconut.

The temple is popular among people to get their needs by praying to Gods and promising to give fruit platters or other offerings as of their minds.

This Hindu temple site actually comprises of several temples with the central one the largest. Some old relics are scattered around the site as well as the occasional wandering cow. You need to remove your shoes to enter the main temple which may be done from a number of entrances. Inside their are many shrines and beautiful coloured panels paying homage to the gods.

It is definitely worth spending time to explore inside and out of this temple complex. It is also worthwhile taking a wander across the street to look at the local shops.

Started my journey from negombo bus stand ( u can start from whichever place u r in) and got down at chilaw bus stand although it took 2 hrs against usual 1.25 hrs, positive was the ticket price 73 lkr only. Then took a 3 wheeler and visited munneswaram, kaibhairavi and manavari temples. My personal favourite was manavari infact the road to this place from munneswaram was truly awesome.
Came back at chilaw bus stand and back in 73 lkr to negombo.
So if u have couple of hours more to spend this is an cheapest and worthy experience.
