Don't count on much in the way of tourist services, but if you aren't afraid to rent yourself a moped with no helmet and drive around the island, then there are treasures to behold including amazing dive spots with turtles and manta rays and Hindu Monastary caves where they give out free holy water.

Fantastic (yet) unspoiled nature island. Get her fast before heavy tourism takes over. It's worth the trip!

Far from all development, technology, tourism... Perfect place to relax, the island is the biggest of the 3 Nusa island and less developed. You can barely see foreigner or tourist there but lots of local and have a real taste of their culture and how they live. The main attraction is nature, beautiful landscape and wonderful sightseeing The snorkling is... More

Slow and relaxed. Interesting and beautiful. Take your time, get a moped and go explore. This island is great for some chill out time away from Bali and even Nusa lembongan. There are many interesting sites and local villages to explore really away from the crowds and the locals can be very welcoming. we had a cracking few days here,... More

Fabulous island, nicely off the beaten track. Just a few things to be aware of. We were only on the island two days but witnessed two motor cycle accidents, one quite serious, we had to stop and take the injured party to hospital, the other was a novice, no serious injury but wrecked the bike. I reckon a lot of... More

Nusa Penida was the best island I had the luck to visit yet... Me and my wife got there from Bali's Sanur port to spend there a part of our honeymoon/Christmas/New Year's tour and this stop was pretty amazing! Just a few tourists (actually we were meeting the same faces from time to time during our stay so really just... More

It was really refreshing to stay in Nusa Penida. It is totally different then rush Bali. Not so many tourists, no western restaurants, bars, clothes shops... Just you and nature and friendly locals (of course there are few tourists). Cave temple (Giri Putri) is place I liked the most. It is very calm, peaceful temple. You just have to go... More

We spent 3 days here and I could have spent a lot more time, at least a week. We only saw about one third of the island and it was spectacular. Nusa Penida reminds us of Lombok with its winding narrow coastal roads and thick vegetation. It is only a short 40 minute fast boat ride from Sanur. The highlight... More

We loved this island, flaws and all. Yes there is a lot of rubbish in some places. Yes some of the street dogs have probably seen happier and healthier days, many broken footpaths and rough roads. But if you wish to get a taste of the local culture with minimal tourist traps this is the place for it. If you... More

I first visited this island 5 years ago and what a sea change it was.. to be able to get away from the hustle and bustle of Bali ( Kuta , Legian) back then accommodation was difficult and only a couple of restaurant.. now you have many to choose from .. this Island has some of the best diving and...
