Broken Beach/Pasih Uug Beach is picturesque rock formation located on the southwest coast of Nusa Penida. It is situated adjacent to Angel's Billabong, about 1hr drive from Toya Pakeh, although the last couple of kilometres are along a rough track (which is fairly tortuous if you are on a scooter).
Broken Beach is essentially a large natural pool, about a hundred metres in diameter, which is linked to the ocean by a massive rock arch in the coastal cliff. Pasih Uug in the Balinese language means damaged beach.
It will cost you 5INR to park here (cash only) but it is free to park at the nearby Angel's Billabong.
It's a great spot for travel photographers and anyone who wants to enjoy stunning panoramic views however you can't actually get down to the beach. There are no fences or barriers along the path that goes around the cliff's edge, so it is very easy to miss a step and potentially fall to your death.
For the most spectacular photos try and get there at low tide, when the rock arch is fully exposed - for the full effect take them from the land side for the best views of the arch.

Very hot with minimal shelter and stores on the way. However, it is the place for some worthy photos and you can even see manta rays sometime (heard from the guide). But plesse bring a cap. It is hot.

It is a spectacle that one must see to believe.
In the end, I was able to make it to Nusa Penida after a long period of trying. Despite the fact that the temperature was very high at the time, we were still very excited about going to one of these well-known tourist destinations.

Also known as Broken Beach, Pasih Uug is about 45 mins drive from the harbor at Nusa Penida. The last few kilometers of road are pathetic - almost no road at all! Best to take a 4-wheeler to reach here. From the parking area, this spot is about a 10 min walk away.
Except for the rock formation, didn't find anything great about this spot. The steps leading to the spot are rough and broken and you need to be careful while walking. There's no charge to visit.

Pasih Uug Beach, also known as Broken Beach, is a mesmerizing natural wonder on Nusa Penida Island, Bali. Marvel at its unique rock formations, with a natural archway framing the turquoise waters below. Experience the raw beauty of this secluded spot, perfect for photography and soaking in the serenity of the rugged coastline.

You will reach this point after about half an hour of driving. Broken beach It is located on Penida Island. This is a place to take beautiful photos. The amount of water under the bridge varies during high tide.

This place has a more popular name, Broken beach.
It has a tosca blue pond or laguna connected to the sea by a short tunnel. So beautiful! See our photos...
From Sanur beach, we took a fast boat to Nusa Penida port. Made Sutama picked us and drove us to east- west part of Nusa Penida. A full day tour. Then we went back to Sanur at 4.30 pm.

If you are in nusa penida the. You must visit this place. It is a few minutes walk from the Angels Billabong which is another popular tourist destination. But arrive early because it gets very crowded quickly. If you are comfortable with motorbike you can rent one to reach the place but nusa penida roads has many pit holes and sharp turns so if you are not comfortable with a bike hire a cab and visit this place and along with it you can visit other popular places within a few kilometres. This place was very beautiful with water gushing through the hole in the hollow circular beach area when one cannot reach. You can only see the view from above and walk around the place.

This is walking distance from Angels Billabong. Worth checking out because it is less than a 2 minute walk to get too. Also, they referred to it as "Broken Beach". The water color is gorgeous!

Leaving for Bali in 10 days. Will be staying the night here in Nusa. We are not making room reservations ahead of time. Once we arrive which area should we head to to find a good place to stay. We are there for general snorkeling and adventure. Thx

Hi. I can only speak of the areas I visited. I stayed in the Klungkung area. It is near the beach. It is also close to Atuh beach, probably the same distance with Crystal Bay. There are rooms close to the other beach areas but I preferred this area for it's not so crowded. It is around 30 minutes from the port area. If you don't have advanced bookings, agents will flock around you the moment you get off the boat. It should not be crowded around this time.
Most of the the beaches are good for snorkeling. You can hop on a rented scooter and follow your adventure instincts or rent a car and the driver will be your guide.
Hope this helps.

Hello,
The best way to reach Nusa penida Island is by boat. Maruti Express has daily boat from Sanur (8:30/10:00/16:00 approx).
Then when you arrived at Toyopakeh (Nusa penida port) you can rent a scooter (from 50 to 70k IDR/day). It would take around 1h30 to reach Pasih Uug (the road is one of the worst of the island). Or You can book a tour to pick you up when you arrived (it will be much more expensive)
Enjoy :)

I want to spend one day in bali and would like to go to three places(utuwalu temple, dusan kunin waterfall and pasih uug beach) in the whole day. Is it possible? And how to access these places?
Written 7 March 2017
I don't think your request is possible ,, Uluwatu Temple is south of Kuta, maybe 2 hour return with looking at temple , Nusa Penida is a fast boat ride from sanur 1 hr and Pasih uug is an hour from toypaka harbor , nusa penida ... Nusa penida is a day trip in its self .. leaving Sanur 8.15am and last boat back to sanur is 3.00pm .. and dusan kunin waterfall is possibly 2-3 hrs away from Kuta in the opposite direction from Uluwatu temple ..

Hi is it possible to check all around Nusa Penida island without tour guide?
Written 15 February 2017
Hello,
Yes it is most definitely possible. I didn't use one in 4 days on the island. Also from the people I met there and who were used to of the island, he never used one.
I did all by myself and a scooter : Pusih Uwug (Angel billabong and the broken beach), Crystal bay (if you want to snork, just ask the people there and they will take you. Go early the morning), Pura Puncak Mundi (View points on the top of the island with a temple nearby), Bukit teletebies (landscape and view point), Atuh beach, Pura Goa Giri Putri (temple in the cave), and a complete turn and road trip around the island.
For you way around, just ask the local, they will always help you.

Is it possible to visit this island for 1 day and then hop on a boat to gili islands? I mean, is it a smart choice, or would I be rushing and wasting money? I don't have many days in bali and I want to go here for a day trip if it's cost effective. I would love any suggestions for a backpacker! :)

Better spend 2days because the distant of the places can take more than an hour. In one day you may only able to reach 2-3 spots. Also the roads were damage that you'll need energy. So you need time to rest

Hi there,i havebeen to nusa lembogan and cenigan, but inly visited the besutiful crystal bay on nusa penida.how do i get around on nusa penida?can i hire a moped to explore island?thx:)
Written 2 January 2017
For me, its better for you to get motorcycle. Since its bit far from one spot to another one. Some parts of the road are also bumpy. Also if you have limited time, better to travel with the motorcycle or you can hire a car as well.

How did you get here? I want to travel the 3 Nusa Islands from Sanur, but don't know how to hop from one Island to another. Thinking of getting a place in Sanur and going to one place each day (Time is not a concern).
Written 21 December 2016
As far as I know, most of the speed boat trips only offer 1 way direct destination from sanur to each of the nusa island. However since nusa penida is the biggest by far and there are plenty to see, it would be best to have an overnight stay there on the island since there is only 1 boat service daily departing at 8 from sanur and leaving at 3 from nusa penida. In 6 hours u will only get to explore half of the island and let"s say u choose to go west, you will probably only get to see pasir uug, water blow n crystal bay and miss out on pulau 1000 n giri putri caves

Anyone know how to get in touch with a local guide to go on a day trip to Nusa Penida?
Please, any info ?
Written 21 September 2016
I do not recommend rent a bike to explore by our self. The road especially to broken beach and angel billabong very bad and dangerous especially when raining.
