The flow of water and the surroundings.
The correct time to go is after a week of rains.
Its just before the river Chipley. Its nearly 11 kilometres by car and the road is not so good.

It was field trip arranged by our professor, it can be good picnic spot too, there is water on upstream and downstream side and in between there is a road where you can happily sit & enjoy the scenic beauty, although i guess it's a restricted area. with proper permissions you can visit it.

52 Kilometers from Vashi is this huge water body and dam is situated on Mumbai Pune Expressway Shedung n Rasayani exit.

With 2 huge gates to be opened on getting large water deposition by rains, they are opened with a loud thud and dam walls are saved from Craking.
A village Nanhivali is located adjacent to the dam.

A humungous fresh water reservoir which supplies potable water to Navi Mumbai- the burgeoning satellite township of Mumbai to the east. It was constructed in 1999 on the river Dhavari. The hills on its borders accentuate the contours of this colossal lake which reflects different hues to varying angles and intensity of the sun. The water is maintained crystal clear. It was infact reassuring for me to see the clean water which goes into the homes of Navi Mumbai. If you compare it with silted Mithi River, it feels like heaven!

We traveled through the Old Bombay-Puna highway and reached here taking a left diversion at Village Nadal. It was a convenient route, although it can also be accessed from Karjat Chowk.

There's not much crowd to be found here, it's quiet and serene. It makes for a great view but it would be inappropriate to describe it as a picnic spot as it doesn't have the accompanying infrastructure to spend long hours with family. The dam is guarded by security and I am not sure if they would even allow camping here, perhaps to maintain the safety and hygiene of the reservoir.
Nevertheless, do try to make a turn to this gorgeous lake, if you are passing by the Mumbai-Puna road. Its natural beauty is sure to captivate you. Best to visit during monsoon months.

We went in October, when the monsoon had ended..and the water level was low, and not too much. It made me think that a full blown rainy season would make the scenic beauty lovely to look at.
The entry gate was closed and the security let us in. There was a long path up ahead leading to a place in the middle of the dam/ lake. We weren't allowed to go there.
It has a nice view..should visit in monsoon.

We visited the Morbe dam. The approach is through a small village. You can drive your car right to the end. You can see a well fenced dam with a no entry board. However we were lucky that the security allowed us in to click a few snaps that too just near the gate. It's a huge dam surrounded by mountains and gives a very peaceful feel. There is also a dilapidated house which is not occupied which can serve as a watchpoint. Overall 30 mins can be spent there. There are no stalls or shops at the site.
