The place is quite Scenic with huge blue water body and small hills peeping. The place is quite peaceful and quite to spend some nice time roaming around. Good communication from Suri and Sainthia town (aprox 40 Km). These two towns are well connected by express /mail trains from Kolkata. There are two Irrigation Bungalow but need to pre-book from... Massanjore dam is about 32 kms from commissionaire town of Dumka, Jharkhand. The "Mayurakshi" river is stopped at this place in 'Raneshwar' block of Dumka where on the both sides of river are hills resulting in a reservoir of water. At the down side of the dam there are units for hydro electric power generation. There are canals on the... More

We visited Massanjore Dam (also known as Canada Dam) during later January, 2015. We went on a trip to Shantiniketan and had pre-decided to visit this Dam as there isn't much to do at Shantiniketan. It took around 2 hours to reach there from Shantiniketan by car. One has to travel via Siuri to reach Dumka district in Jharkhand. If... More

I always thought this was called the Massanjore Dam...here I came to know that it is actually called the CANADA Dam. Massanjore's chief attraction is the 2100 ft long dam, built with Canadian co-operation across the Mayurakshi river. The dark cool waters of the reservoir complement the lush green hills. We visited the place on December 26, 2013. The place was... More

This dam is across the Mayurakshi river, in Dumka district, of Jharkhand state. The premises around the dam are dotted with eating joints and there are two guest houses on top of the hill with a panoramic view of the entire dam. Earlier days, this was one of the favourite outdoor shooting locations for Tollywood films when the upkeep was... More
