We have visited Dana S. many times in his exhibition rooms and his atelier as well. Over time we bought several big paintings which embellish our home in Bali. Dana S. is a master of creating wideness, tranquility and light. Enroute our villa amidst paddy fields, we stopped by at The Sunari Gallary. Though we couldn't buy anything because our pocket didn't allow but this gallery is worth a visit if you are an art lover for its amazing collection. If you want to buy serious art, no better place.

Our introduction to Dana S. was back in 1998 on our very first trip to Bali. We simply fell in love with his work. Our budget however at the time did not allow us to indulge in our favourite piece so we settled for another of his works, a smaller piece. Funny this is now our favourite from his collection. With interest in finding a talented artisted we arrived at Sana's Gallery near Ubud. He had been recommended to us as a true artist with exhibtions and customers around the world. Meeting him, sharing a beer in his home gallery and hearing about his story and approach we fell in love with his work. We could not choose one painting so bought two. Sana's paintings are impressionist interpretations of Balinese nature and cultural events. Rice fields in motion at harvest time, an inspiring Banyan tree immersed in a golden setting and beach fronts with fishing boat dancing on the water. He has spent some time in Italy and now presents a strong and interesting style rooted in celebrating Balinese life, but in a was that easily translates across cultures. He designed his home / gallery as an open space with high roofs, wooden ceilings and dimensions celebrate art. He loves to talk about his work and the world over a beer with vistors, who he readily invites to join him. We are thankful to have meet him and shared his work with a strong feeling that he will be a more and more important artist in the years to come.…
