behind the low cliffs and dunes is asmall lake or tarn. Look to the east for seabirds and to the west for waders and land birds. There is always something to see.

Have been there in spring, summer, autumn and winter and seen a variety of birds in the hide and on the walk in the reserve. Wrap up warm as it can get a cold breeze off the sea.

This is a lovely little bird reserve overlooking Newton Pool, a peaceful place to sit awhile and watch the birds and other wildlife and take a moment away from the bustle and noise of the rest of the world.

Excellent reserve - quite small - a series of interlocking pools - looks like wardens are doing work to expand it.

came across this on a coastal walk, had a nice rest and ate our sandwiches - may be worth a visting in the spring.

Not being one myself I know folks who are, I always recommend this. The National trust have records going back into the last century of the bird population.

As you are presumably a bird lover, I strongly recommend Budle bay. It's between Bamburgh and Belford. Plenty of free parking in a long lay by next to the bay. When the tide is out you'll see lots of lovely sea... More
