What a lovely little place to visit. Walking inside was like walking through fields of lavender. So many things to look at and choose from, although some are a little on the expensive side, it does even out when you only need a little of the product for the desired result. The best bit... you can sample most of the... More

While travelling with interstate visitors on a Saturday between St Helens and Devonport, Tasmania, they asked to especially visit the Lavender House Perfumery at Rowella. Despite their brochure stating that they were open daily during the peak tourist season, except Christmas Day and Good Friday, we arrived to find that they were closed on weekends - a waste of time... I can understand how frustrated you would be feeling having made a detour to see THE PERFUMERY. Unfortunately Michael some things are beyond our control. All of our current advertising our brochures our website and our facebook page advise that we open Monday to Friday from September till July. Obviously there is still some old material out there. I hope... More

I live in Tasmania but routinely visit The Perfumery to stock up on their products. I never am without the Crookback balm, the dragon lady balm, the sleep balm and the headache balm. it's a beautiful drive to Rowella, and I always take visitors out there to see our beautiful countryside and allow them to stock up on gifts to... The Lavender House is in a gorgeous spot and when the plants are in bloom they are a beautiful sight. This is a great place to visit to learn about the Lavender industry and all the wonderful products that are produced from this gorgeous plant. There are some terrific creams and oils to sample while learning about the many health... More

I am so glad that you enjoyed your visit and appreciated how interesting and useful lavender is. Many people just rush in, 'can't see the wood for the trees' and rush off again without even breathing the fresh air. Frances More

The serenity and smell of the venue was beautiful. I bought products and was so impressed with them that I ordered more online when I arrived home, as gifts for others. A definite must visit when in Tassie.

Advertising in all the tourist brochures. Looks great. Drove out from Launceston to visit but OH -- closed on weekends. Only make that public on the gate signpost. Why on earth would they put that info into the brochures. Treating potential customers with complete disdain and lack of respect.

Management response:

First of all, we do not advertise in 'all the tourist brochures'', they are far too expensive. We support our local Travelways paper only and our local Visitor Information Center has our brochures. Unfortunately some things are beyond our control. All of our current advertising our brochures our website and our facebook page advise that we open Monday to Friday.... More

You're able to see the manufacturing and bottling process here. Very interesting indeed. There were some different products I'd not seen at other lavender places in tasmania. But felt it lacked a few of the cheaper gift style products other places had. Not my favourite lavender place.... Also lacked views of lavender farms... but not to worry. The lavender store... More

Lovely to have seen you Jessie and thankyou for your generous review. We manufacture all of our own products Jessie. Here, in Tasmania, employing Tasmanians. THE PERFUMERY is not a Lavender Farm but a manufacturing perfumery; the only one in Tasmania. We promote Tasmanian quality and as you noticed, this is a very interesting place. Entry is free if you... More

The Perfumery does not have a cafe, but eat somewhere else before or after you've been here. It's sparkling clean, great attention from the proprietor, a wonderful range of lavender products and the opportunity to sample before buying.

We were visiting the wine making district around the Tamar Valley and had already read about the Lavender House so we thought why not visit. The shop and factory are combined and there is a viewing window into the processing plant. There are all manner of products available and many of which one wouldn't have thought possible. A wide range... More

We visited The Lavender House a couple of years ago and when we returned to Tassie last week, we were excited to return and buy your good quality natural products at very good prices (not inflated for tourists NOR charging entry fees to visit). We purchased lots for ourselves and gifts for family and friends. Thank you to the staff... More
