You need to hire a boat, either a dugout canoe or a small motor launch, to visit Fort Anglais. Constructed in 1702 to protect French Haiti from the English in Jamaica, it was overrun by the British in 1748. Fort des Anglais i sthe sister fort to Fort des Olivier and its British counterpart. Located on an islet just about 10 minutes by motor boat, the fort outline and chambers are relatively well preserved considerng the ravages of the past 200+ years of exposure to sea salt, weather, hurricanes, etc. Well worth the trip when in the area of...
