Miagao is a UNESCO World Heritage site - it's architecture typically Baroque - a style which the Spanish were experts in building in. What the Spaniards were unaccustomed to was the topography and geology of the Philippines - earthquakes and typhoons are alien to Spain, as were volcanoes and coral reefs. This gave a whole new dimension on how churches... More

This gem of a church is a place to visit and worship. It brings you back in the Spanish era with its intricate mason work inside and out. This has been granted as a UN Heritage site that greets its visitors with a touch of nostalgic feel.

I've heard a lot of good things about this church and when I finally saw it with my own eyes, it didn't disappoint. I found out that this 200+ year old church is now classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. I have seen truly captivating churches in other parts of the world because of their intricate designs like the... More

Opposite the church is the plaza, the cultural hall where theatrical plays, musical and dance competetions are held and a municipal hall at the back of... More

This place is just picture perfect being a UNESCO world heritage site you shouldn't miss going here when in Iloilo. It does close down on lunchtime so make sure not to go there at around that time.

It is about over an hour drive from Iloilo City to Miag-Ao where this church branded as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site is located. Its facade has a very intricate design. Truly captivating.

For UNESCO site and heritage preservation fans like me, a trip to this Baroque church is definitely an item in my Iloilo travel list. In it's grandest scale, perfectly situated on top of the town the church itself welcomes visitors to its own charm. Aside from the lack of resource materials, related shops and interesting eateries surrounding the church vicinity,... More
