Unable to go into the house so walked round the gardens then watched the fountain do it's party piece. Well worth a visit but it would pay to enquire if the fountain will be working on the day you visit

The fountain is certainly worth a visit. The spray spreads for yards so be prepared to get wet or take a brolly. It is amazing and worth a visit just to see the children having a whale of a time running round. The house I found to be in need of a lot of TLC. There is a stark difference... More

All a bit strange. A very lived-in house. It has treasures, but the paint is peeling from some of the portraits and others painted on boards are starting to split. We were told 'you wont want to miss the kitchen' - we decided it was just like ours... but a lot more alcohol and cereals. There is a free audio... More

Lovely sunny day to enjoy the fountain display. Half an hour of fun. Great to see all the children in swimming costumes running through the spray. Lots of families eating picnics in the extensive grounds. Giant trees in woodland area for further play/ walks. Inside the house is amazing. Jacobean interior with decades of artwork added in. Lovely paintings and... More

We weren't staying far from here and the grounds are fairly pretty to walk around but the fountain is worth a visit. There is a tea room as well serving home made cakes although I didn't try any. Check the times of the fountain prior to visiting as it is only on for set times.

The house and grounds are sublime but the fountain should be listed as one of the wonders of the world. It was a 30 minute extravaganza of the forces of nature and provided fun and exceptional experiences for visitors of all ages

This attraction is only open in June, July and August on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 2 and 5 pm, so is very popular on these days. Although we arrived at 2pm, there was already a fairly long queue, with just one lady taking the entrance fees. There are various levels of entry - gardens and fountain, house gardens and fountain... There doesn't appear to be public tours of the house although staff talk of private tours but no information seems to be available on how to do this. There is a small cafe in part of the outbuildings which provides good quality food. It's a short walk to the worlds largest natural gravity feed fountain which is spectacular. Check however... More

So glad we stopped by Stanway House & it's wonderful fountain. The house has a real homely feel to it with a calm, relaxing rooms. It was very difficult not to sink into the squashy sofas! So not like the set interiors of some properties owned by the National Trust & English Heritage. Yummy cream tea in the tea room... More
