Before visiting you might be interested in the fact that the North Cotswold Hunt met there on Saturday 9th March 2024 for their closing meet. If you are OK with hunts terrorising the local wildlife then thats OK but by going here you support this activity.

Live locally but had never visited until we went in June. It did not disappoint and has been one of my fave days out this summer. It was a warm, sunny afternoon. Beautiful house, which has been used in a lot of filming. The Watermill was fun, and the fountain was a delight to see! We had visited the fete the previous year and seen the foundation going then but had never been around the house or Watermill. It was such a lovely afternoon. We also enjoyed tea and cake by the pond. Beautiful!
Oh, one thing was cash only, but that was no problem.

God, the kids loved this! Spectacular fountain gets wind-blown throwing a heavy wet mist over all the shrieking, dancing children. Take swimming costumes and towels!

A rural gem; unspoilt medieval Manor House and barn plus a BIG extra wow-factor!
Highest fountain in UK (even bigger than Chatsworth), highest gravity-fed fountain IN THE WORLD! Why isn’t it more famous?! 😮.Also a working water-powered corn mill, but ran out of time; will definitely visit again.
Opening times are limited and the fountain only operates briefly twice a day, so check carefully before you go. Also, DON'T stand downwind of the fountain when it starts up, or you will be drenched, as I was!

Marvellous fountain. The outside of the house is truly beautiful but inside it is untidy, dirty, the furniture is in tatters and the walls are peeling and damp. It is sad to see a house deteriorating like this and to dream what it once may have been.

We visited a couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. We’ve never been before but will certainly go again. It has an air of “shabby, has seen better days”. But that is it’s appeal. It’s like going back to the 1950s. Nothing is pristine -
All the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed reasonably priced tea and cake in the converted stables. The mill was fascinating - again a visit to remind you of a bygone era.
We have no hesitation in recommending a visit - but do it before it slides into a H&S nightmare ruin!!!

House fantastic, water wheel driven mill fantastic, fountain fantastic BUT the cafe lot it all down. £20 for 3 tea bag teas and 3 slices of cake! Trouble is £20 cannot be divided by 3. When I questioned it, I was told they charge £2.50 for the cup of tea and insisted each piece of cake was £3.50 even though it had a £2.50 price tag on it! Even worse the next customer was charged £15 for 3 teas and 3 cakes....work that one out. So go and enjoy the house and fountain but DON'T be tempted by the cafe

Our Local History Society had a private guided tour of Stanway House, plus the Mill, in early July. It was an exceptionally interesting visit to this beautiful Jacobean house and estate. Our guide, Jackie, brought the history alive and she was friendly and enthusiastic. We also enjoyed the tranquil gardens, the amazing fountain and the former corn mill, now producing excellent flour. The two millers gave an illuminating talk, as we explored the Mill, dating from the 13th C, Finally, beautifully laid out tables with tea and cake, were a fitting finale to a perfect visit. We would recommend it to other history/heritage groups but also to any one interested in its rich heritage, whilst remaining a family home. It is open to the public on 2 afternoons a week during summer months

We were lucky enough to visit Stanway with a private group tour. Very informative and enthusiastic guide made the visit very enjoyable. Delightful grounds and of course the very impressive fountain. We also had lunch in the grounds (ploughmans, followed by delicious homemade cakes). Well worth visiting if you get the chance
