I have visited the Imperial War Museum a few times when taking a trip to Salford Quays. I absolutely love the rich history in this place. The exhibitions are fabulous, with all collections visable. The old cars, planes and bombs, etc are incredible. There are lots of information points explaining the item and the dates. If you love learning about... More

The films are on the hour are well worth watching, i saw the title of the one we would see and it was not a subject matter i thought i would enjoy but the way in which they are done are brilliant and very engaging. Love all the social history aspects.

The imperial war museum is an impressive looking building in Salford Quays and the exhibition did not disappoint. It is not a huge museum, but they have some very interesting exhibits and original ways of displaying them. We all thoroughly enjoyed our 2-3 hour visit. The cafe was also very good.

My wife & I took the grandchildren today hoping for a good day out. Admission is free, the building is impressive, the contents not so. The place is very dark and the exhibits look like ones that the London IWM hadn't got room for. The main items were two Russian tanks, NO british tanks or even a British army vehicle... More

We went specifically to see the "Fashion on Ration" exhibition, and were not disappointed. My 12 year old read every single word - unheard of, but took ages!!!! - so it did hold her interest well. The main hall is essentially a history of wars & warfare from WW1 to the present day - and whilst very well presented and... More

The museum is housed in a modern, iconic building in the Salford Quays area. There are several nearby tram stops, with MediaCity UK probably being the closest. I paid for the Fashion on the Ration exhibition which was a fascinating insight to clothing and dress during the Second World War. Many items of apparel were rationed. Trouser turn ups were... More

There are lockers for you to use, shop and cafe. would definitely recommend, and want to visit the one in London now too!!

Excellent trip. Free entry interactive displays plus film show. Took 2 hours there not too busy despite holidays. Short walk to media city which is worth a visit. Lots of person stories in museum make it unique. Sobering visit worth a look.

Compared to the IWM London, this doesn't come close. It is an Interesting modern building with some unique exhibits. However on the whole, the exhibits are poorly layed out and not particularly well themed. The information is given in small snippets and the musuem has an overall empty feel that feels more themed to children. If you are in the... More

We had a great visit although I did expect more items on exhibit, particularly vehicles. The large screen video installations were great and gave a connection to the exhibit items.
