Once you get to the park, it is well organized. You have to join a tour to visit the sites. It is a little pricy, 600 pesos (March 2017) for a 3.5 hour tour and 250 pesos for the park fee. I stayed in the...More

I drove myself to the park to visit the main canyon. I'm so pleased I went. It's stunning. A concession company runs a variety of trips into the canyon itself, you can't drive in or go without a guided trip. I chose a three hour...More

Like other parks in the area (notably Parque Provincial Ischigualasto), unless you are in La Rioja to specifically to sightsee the area, they are challenging to get to and visit. However, the views are stunning and there was a good balance of bus rides (to...More

The park may be worth visiting, but it is so hard to get it done. There are too many hurdles that one needs to overcome before one can join one of the expensive excursions (unless you are a local). Virtually nothing is written in an...More

To keep it short. If you have only time for one park skip Ischigualasto, the so called Valle de la Luna, and visit Talampaya. It is much more impressive and reminded us of Monument Valley but much less crowded. It has beautiful red rock formations,...More

We were overwhelmed by the incredible landscape. You can see the pictures but the reality is so much more incredible! Is a must. Well organized if a little bit expensive tours, but very enjoyable.

It is a shame the only option is to go on the organised tour bus, and entry into the park is not included in the ticket price, but that's people management. That said the tour was good you just go with it and enjoy the canyon.

Hola Jarek. No te recomiendo hacer los dos parques el mismo día. Para disfrutarlos precisas un día para cada uno. Espero te sirva mi opinión.

I would like to have more information on getting to Talampaya and villa de la Luna in one day. we are still trying to decide where to stay and where the tours go out of as we don't want to stay in LA rioja if it's going to cost a lot to transfer over. We can stay in Villa union as well. I am trying to find tour operators that have prices on their website if anyone could please give me information it would be most helpful. We are both in our 60's so a lot of trekking is not in the plans... Thank you Luz
