We were pleasantly surprised how much there was to do. It seemed a little pricey at the gate but under 3's are free (we took a one year old) and the ticket lasts all day for as many rides as you like. There's plenty of activities for little ones: tea rooms, play area, brio play sets, models, shop, museum, experience... More

A step back in time, real steam trains, staff dressed to suit, BOOK YOUR TICKETS BEFORE YOU GO as it's very expensive if you just turn up, we got a really good deal buying tickets through Red Funnel with a ferry package.

What a great museum, really interesting and interactive. Lots to see and do with loads of info to take in. Even chance for the children to try on a driver's outfit and practice driving a train. The videos shown were short enough to keep a child's attention so that helps too.

Thank you for both visiting us and the great review. Our £1.2million Train Story Discovery Centre opened in 2014 and was made possible by a Heritage Lottery Fund grant. In developing the centre our aim was to provide access, information and education in a way that appeals to all ages, in particular families. Short informative videos and the opportunity for... More

A really great day. The whole place is very child friendly, clean and well kept. It seems pricey when you look online but personally I think it was well worth the £26 we paid (2 adults and 2 girls under 5). Had we booked online it would have been £23 but as there is zero phone signal at havenstreet so... More

Brilliant day out! Really enjoyed riding up and down the line, visiting the museum, lunch and the birds of prey next door.

What a day we had! The sun was shining and the wild flowers along the track side were stunning. The cafe on the station serves great food hot and cold! Reasonable prices too! The shop has many souvenirs of the isle as well as the railway.

Always pay a visit to the IOW steam railway when we come to the Island.Love it.....there's nothing better than the swaying of the carriage while chugging along through beautiful countryside, listening to the clickety clack of the train on the track.I could stay on it all day (apart from a visit to the beautiful station at Haven Street for lunch) The... Surprised husband with the Footplate Experience on the steam railway and it was such a dream come true for him to get to (almost) drive a train! One does not actually get to drive the train of course but drivers were extremely informative and answered loads of questions about the train, about how things worked and what toggle did what,... Thanks for visiting us all the way from California! Delighted your husband enjoyed his footplate experience (must be booked in advance - see website). I will ensure our 3 volunteers you mention are aware of your kind words. As you suggest, the line side wild flowers are a total delight this time of year. Please spread the word and encourage... We were visiting the Isle of Wight and touring around; the Steam Railway was on our "to do" list. We were fortunate to be there on a lovely early spring day and we had the benefit of attractive views of the fields and the bluebell woods on our trip. If you remember steam from your childhood (as we do) then... More
