Wonderful location and spirit

This beautiful monastery is located up on the hill overlooking the Danube valley. Classical architecture and small, it still offers ample parking.

Take a short detour to visit this monastery on a bluff over the city of Orsova. The church is made of wood with beautiful carved details and stained glass. Take a moment to read the history of the founding of the monastery & walk the porch around the church to get a better view of the river.

Great for praying and resting. Awfully bad road to the monastery. Not very much to do in Orșova anyway.

A quiet and religious place on the hills of Orsova. Don't miss the terrase behind the church where you can see the Danube.

The monastery offers great view over Orsova and the Danube. It worths a stop of 30 minutes. The architecture is also interesting.

Located on the hill top, accessible by car (free parking just at the entrance), the monastery stands out from other similar ecumenical places by its spectacular view - from a veranda which surrounds the exterior of the church - over the town and the river. Besides this and the tranquility of the place, there is nothing special from a touristic... More

We visited the Monastery and walked the grounds on a Saturday. The gardens are so well kept and the Monastery is a lovely example of traditional Romanian architecture. We enjoyed an opportunity to spend some quiet time here.

- Location: Wonderful. A 10 minute drive from Orsova. - View: Stunning view over the Danube valley. - Atmosphere: Tranquil. - Duration of visit: I spent a serene hour there. - Parking: Five minute walk from the nunnery and free of charge. The monastery has wonderful flower gardens and hospitable nuns. It’s a relatively new - 20th century - monastery... More

A very nice place: quiet with a splendid view over the Danube Valley towards Orsova. Access by car is made by a narrow and steep road. There is a parking there. It's free to visit. Aside from the Danube view, there is an interesting aspect of the monastery: it has a very cozy wooden veranda that surrounds the church. From... More
