I really wanted to make time for this stop, with its 2 main trails to the limestone kilns and the falls. It is a State park with an entry fee, and limited parking. You walk through the campground to get to the trails. There are more trails around the Park, but we did only 2 as it was foggy that... More

When you want a break from the beach or the beautiful coastal views while exploring Big Sur, take a few hours to hike up through this lush forest to the waterfalls at Limekiln State Park. Great camping sites available too.

Another California State Park gem with brooks and wildlife, dense forests and lovely trails. Beware park closings when wildfires rage, but if you can get it, it's another outdoor gem.

The Limekiln State Park is a great place for a hike in the Redwoods. The are a couple of marked trails to the historic Kilns and to a nice waterfall. We hiked all the trails and hiked a total of about 5km.

We were travelling down the Big Sur and were unsure if we would be able to visit any of State Parks we had originally planned to because of the fires. Limekiln State Park was the only park that was open on the day of our travel and we couldn't be happier that it was! It was incredible and we were... More

This was one of the few locations that is still accessible while the Soberanes Fire is still burning. We did not get the opportunity to camp at the campground but looks really nice. Some spaces up in the Red woods and some down by the beach. The bathrooms were really clean and the camp host was very friendly. We only... More

Pay the entrance fee, enjoy the serenity of the beach and the waves and streams rolling over the rocks. Then get up and head into the woods and follow the footpath to find the waterfall. It is not paved and you will balance on logs, boards, roots, rocks, and wade through the water, so wear good hiking/swimming shoes but it... More

This park is spectacular and perfect to take kids for a hike but not too long of a hike. (Each hike is about 30-40 mins round trip) Location: 24 miles south of the Ventana Inn or Bakery/gas station area PARKING FEE: $10 entrance/parking fee per car CAMPING: onsite: At the beach and in the woods - two sets of bathrooms... My husband, 4 year old son and I just returned from a few days of camping at Limekiln State Park. The overall experience was excellent! We arrived right at the check-in time of 2 pm and had reserved Site #29 about a month ahead of time. The staff at the gate were super friendly and helpful with any questions. There... More

This campsite is good for tent camping as no RV's are allowed in the Redwood section. What I didn't expect is that the sites are small. When the folks across from #26 put up two tents, they didn't have room for their two cars and parked them right next to our tent. It's basically a dirt driveway on the edge... More
