While driving the beautiful Big Sur you come upon the Station. Like most places when nothing else is around they up the prices. I recommend filling up and making sure you'll be good the rest of you ride unless you wanna pay the price. As for Big Sur, its a beautiful area filled with great scenery!

We stopped here for a midday break while driving from Pismo Beach to Monterey (with a stop at Hearst Castle) and had some lunch while enjoying the amazing views. A nice break (with restrooms) during a long day of driving.

Watch out for the gas prices ! ! ! This is legally stealing ! So, fill up in Monterey but never in Big Sur. You will feel like a fool and it says "no gas station next 40 miles" ! Monopoly next 40 miles ;-)

Make sure you fill your gas tank before heading to the BIg Sur area. We went in a nice gift shop and I was curious on the price of gasoline. I was shocked to see $5.49 for regular. I bought a nice ball cap to add to my collection from the price I saved by having 3/4 of a tank... More

Any trail head with flushing toilets gets an A from me. If you're backpacking parking is $5 a night which is a deal compared to other parks.

They are helpful and a great source for Big Sur. We had trouble finding Pfeiffer Beach, and they helped us get there, and enjoy a great afternoon.

The station was closed every tme we went there. The maps outside were nice, and the access to trails in the big sur was terrific. Can stop here to find a trail that is dog friendly. Note: what they are calling "easy" would be moderate at any other campground, and strenuous is only for aerobics instructors who are rock climbers... More

Big Sur station is a ranger station operated by Caltrans, the Los Padres National Forest, and California State Parks. They do an amazing job of keeping the entire Big Sur area a great place to visit. The station is 26 miles south of Carmel near the actual town of Big Sur, California. There is a Nature Station Store here with... More
