You can park along Highway 1 and walk down a trail to the falls or park in the Julia Pheiffer burns state park parking lot across the highway. There is a paved path underneath the highway that leads you to the falls. We had a beautiful day, saw two whales and two condors.

McWay Falls can only be accessed by road. Drive up, park, walk about 2-3min, and that's it. You can look and take photos, but then be on your way. Opposite the falls is the state park which offers great hikes.

The waterfall is easily reached on a coastal trail in JUlia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. You can park along the road, or in the state park itself for $10. There are in-land trails in the park as well, but we only went to the coastal trail. It's flat and easy. The falls are visible almost right away when you reach... More

McWay Falls is another beautiful stop along the California coast. Although some people are able to see the falls, we weren't. This is possibly due to the angle where we stood or the time of year (dry summer). Nonetheless the views will not disappoint!

This is a must see when driving US1 through the Big Sur area. Won't miss it since there are signs and a lot of cars along the road. Park on the shoulder of the road.. There is a walkway with great views. It is not that long and the terrain is even. Maybe even wheelchair accessible. Strollers do it easily.... More

very nice place for the entire family to look the great water fall and the perfect beach. But if you are a parent of toddler then think once again to get down to the water falls. But we can view the water fall from top and it was good as you see from down. really enjoyed the view and advisable... More

There isn't much there and you'll get to share the non-falls with hundreds of other people. Head to Lime Stone Park instead for a much more interesting waterfall!

This waterfall cascades directly into the ocean at high tide, and onto the beach at low tide. Makes for breathtaking photos and exploring! I climbed down behind the falls which is a do at your own risk and would not recommend climbing down unless skilled at rock climbing and in good shape.

This is obviously one of the most popular Big Sur destinations, and it was just OK. There was $10 parking, but many people just parked outside the entrance for free. I wouldn't even classify this as a hike, as it was just a short walk on a narrow paved road to the site. When I reached there, I thought "this... More
