Shocked at the previous negative reviews. I was in Esalen last month at a workshop and was so overwhelmed by the positive energy of the place I extended my stay for another 2 days. Great surroundings, beautiful and compassionate people, and touched by some of...More

I loved my stay at Esalen. I went for a yoga retreat and genuinely enjoyed my stay. You are spoiled rotten with a delicious spread of food 3 times a day, much of which is grown in their organic garden on the property. They have...More

This is the best massage you will ever have in your life. The only catch, everyone is nude, even the therapists at time. Soak in the natural hottubs to loosen up first. We had the added luck of witnessing the seal migration in the waters...More

Esalen has a grand cult following, and many of the glowing reviews are from that group. I arrived as neither a Kool-Aid drinking devote, nor as a critical luxury traveler expecting top-notch service. But Esalen has difficulty providing an average option in the middle. The...More

Hello Esalen staff, After reading about mold and seeing the pictures, I am concerned. Is there reason to be concerned about mold or have you righted that situation? Thank you, Christine

Hi Christine, I am not on staff at Esalen, but I did stay there. I booked a higher priced private room and it was mold free from what I could tell. It wasn't fancy but it was comfortable with a beautiful view of the ocean... More

Hello All! I am considering a point house for a week long stay and was wondering if the sleeping loft is comfortable enough to sleep in. For example is it reminiscent of a bunk bed? or is it a hard futon bunk bed feel? or is it an actual mattress? Is it a scary climb up to it? any feedback appreciated

Hi - Stayed in a loft which was in a 3 person room with 2 beds downstairs. Had my own space in the loft with a single bed. The ceiling was a little low and the steps were steep. Enjoyed the loft
