I visited this lake several times, latest one is on last October 2018. The charming and mind blowing view will make you joyful. I rent a boat for whole day and visited many places through the Kaptai Lake. It was very beautiful.

Wake up early in the morning, hire a boat and just set off for the whole day. Boats can be hired from the nearest jetty. Fare depends on the season you're going (as low as 1200tk for single deck to as high as 2500tk for double deck boats). if you are a big group i suggest you take the double decked boats. there are about 8 tourist spots you can visit via boat including- shuvolong falls, shuvolong bazar, another smaller waterfall, the buddha's monument, the hanging bridge, peda ting ting restaurant etc. remember to talk to the boatman about the places you want to go. the lake itself is absolutely mesmerizing. its huge and the water is very clear. with the hills at the back it is indeed a treat to the eyes.

p.s- please do not throw garbage in the lake. it is very clean and let's keep it that way.

Kaptai Lake was formed by damming the Karnaphuli River and largest man-made freshwater lake in the south Asia. The lake located at the natural queen district “Rangamati”. You will be mesmerized by the beauty of the emerald blue lake with striking surroundings of large hills and panoramic forests.

During the rainy season the lake expresses her full magnetism and the surroundings become greener. A boat ride especially traditional ‘Sampan' on the tranquil water of the lake will be a memorable experience. If you are adventurous then you can do kayaking on the lake.

Kaptai Lake is one of those attractions of Bangladesh what makes Bangladesh as beautiful as it is!

My trip to Rangamati, Kaptai Lake was one of a kind relaxing trip. I went to kaptai lake this year on march. A whole day of Boat Ride is the main attraction here.

Trip Necessary Info:
Q: From where can i hire a boat?
A: Reserve Bazar Ghaat (Ghaat is like where all the boats and ships are docked, like a jetty of sorts)

Q: How much for a whole day Boat Ride?
A: Depends on How big of a boat you are hiring, But Prices Start from 1000 BDT and ends somewhere at 6000 BDT
Q: Can i bargain with the Price?
A:Yes Please do so! chances are for a group of 8 people u can hire a boat for a
minimum of 1200-2000 BDT (Tip: Always hire a boat that has a good high deck. Low decks are not that much of a fun)

Q: Is it Safe?
A: Yes

Q: Do these boatman speak English?
A: Most of them cant, but you can surely manage someone who does, just ask your hotel or trip organizer.

*My Review Starts from here*

Before i continue on my review i would like to share a personal experience of traveling to Rangamati with you guys. (for the first timers specially)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So you can reach rangamati directly by bus and they have both AC and Non-AC solution for this. There is no other transportation service that is direct,

So what happened is we mistakenly purchased the bus tickets for Dhaka - Kaptai Coach, whereas we wanted to go to Rangamati City and stay there! Kaptai is another sub-district of Rangamati (not the lake, its a place called kaptai so hence the name Kaptai Lake)
Tourist accommodation in kaptai is very scarce. So before you buy those tickets Make sure you are buying the Dhaka - Rangamati Tickets not Dhaka to Kaptai or From anywhere to Kaptai. Mind you Kaptai town itself is very beautiful, it has many resorts and some parks, and a epic lake-view road.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So now for the Kaptai Lake Part

It as a beautiful lake, You basically hire a boat from reserve baazar ghaat and start your cruise of kaptai lake, These boat trip includes a whole day lake trip with multiple spot included into them.
Shuvolong Waterfall, Joom Pahar, Hanging Bridge etc. are some of the places included into this package.

The Boat man will also take you to one of the many restaurants situated on kaptai lake where you can order your lunch. Dont miss those, those are some good foods.
We ate at a restaurant called "Mejaang"

Enjoy the boat ride, hear some songs and relax. The best time comes after lunch in the afternoons. A gentle cold breeze, good scenic beauty and the sound of boat making its way through lake waters.

After Finishing the Kaptai lake tour, ask your boatman to Take you to "Polwel Park" .There is a dock for boats there Too. Enjoy your evening on that Park, i promise you, You will love it.

- End Note -
If some of you are like me and prefer cruising more to stopping at popular tourist spots, then hire a boat and ask the boatman to not stop at tourists spots and you would prefer roaming the two lakes instead (there are Two Lakes, The First one is very popular among normal tourist and most of them dont know or care about the second one). He will understand, it will not cost you more. And the Lunch arrangement for you will remain the same even if you come late dont worry!

Best time to go---------Rainy season.

We arranged a group tour where we wanted to visit all the tourist spot of Rangamati within one day. We purchased train ticket (Truna Nishita) Dhaka-Chittagong at 5/8/2018 late night at 680 BDT (10 USD). A/C compartment is better as there were no standing people around you.

We hired a 11-12 seat microbus for day long trip to Rangamati to Kaptai at 6500 (80USD).

After reaching at Chittagong at 6.20 AM we jumped into microbus after having breakfast. First destination was Rangamati. We reached at Rangamati at 9.30AM. After having tea at there we hired a boat for trip to Choto fountain , Shuvolong, Hanging bridge at 1800BDT (30USD). Please take time for bargain.

Started boat at 10.00 we first go to Chang pang for order launch. After ordering we started journey for Choto fountain, Shuvo long. Finish within 12.30PM and back to Chang Pang for Launch.

Most beautiful lake of Bangladesh, huge in size and source of fish and a place for thousands of species to live. Indigenous community lives all over the lake and they use boat as their major mode of communication. My travel there was an amazing experience. There are many waterfalls all around the lake who becomes live during rainy season.

Kaptai Lake is a man made lake in south-eastern Bangladesh.Kaptai Lake is the largest man made lake in Bangladesh. It is located in the Kaptai Upazila under Rangamati District of Chittagong Division. The lake was created as a result of building the Kaptai Dam on the Karnaphuli River, as part of the Karnaphuli Hydro-electric project. The Kaptai Lake's average depth is 100 feet (30 m) and maximum depth is 490 feet (150 m). This lake was developed by inundating valleys and plain lands between lots of hills. This made a beautiful scenario while forested mountains and highland climb from within the water.

Kaptai lake is a humongous lake with beautiful natural scenery. You can hire a boat and roam around the lake as long as you want at a very low price. It's better to roam during evening and in a moonlight night.
