View point, Trekking and thrill in one spot
Nov 2019
We were on a family trip to Sakleshpur and this was one of the name that was provided by hotel staff to us. We were looking for some small trekking, view point etc. We started around 7:15 AM and reached there within an hour without much expectation. But we had our small surprise when we reached there. There is an old temple and next to it there was a small hill. My kid (6years old) was very excited to see that hill and wanted to conquer it. It is less than a kilometer trekking but a lot of fun. It was very windy there and next to the first hill top there was another hill top. We didnt go there as it was bit tough compared to the first hill. But it is very nearby. Approximately another 200 meters of walk and you can have even better view. It was very windy there and the view was awesome. After coming back from there we found a small stream of water behind the temple. The water was very cool and soothing. We sat there for sometime and then we headed back. Note- There are not many hotel/restaurant near this place so it is better to carry some food/water or have something before going there. Kids may have their own preference towards such places so take your call when taking kids with you.

Ancient temple of Lord Shiva

We went by local Jeep as the roads are not very hospitable for cars. The journey was exciting with the road winding through lush coffee plantations. The template is typical Hoysala style stone one and there is a hill near-by where one can climb for a good view of the surrounding mountains and valley. Since, we had gone after monsoon, the place was completely covered with green carpet of grass and plants.

Serene temple

The temple is situated on a hillock and the road there is pretty bad. So we parked a few kms away and walked. The place is beautiful and you can get a good view of the surrounding hills. Good place to go for a trek as i saw a trail in the distance .

Ancient/SereneTemple

This is a small temple surrounded by greenery, much like most of the small temples in Ghat hills. I heard from our guide that this is 800 years old temple.

Trek next to this temple is a easy one and the hill is named as Pandavara Gudda - it seems Pandavas had passed through this gudda (hill) during their vanavasa period.

Trekking is easy and beginners can have a good experience trekking this!!

P.S: Kindly do not litter and also educate others who litter

A beautiful temple on a Hill.

A beautiful temple near Sakleshpura/Chikmagalur. The road till the temple is good except few stretches not more than 200m. There is a pond near temple as well. In Rainy Season it is covered in cloudy mists. From here one can even go to Jenukallu Peak, Deepadha Peak for trekking.

Beautiful Location

Its in the midst of the Western Ghat Forest at Sakleshpur. Approach is not so great, road is in the worst condition. Beautiful steps leading to the temple. Temple is surronded by the beauty of western ghats. One can sit peacefully here and listen to the various bird sounds. I totally loved this place.

Light trek with lush green surroundings

This place is close to Makkithitta homestay where we stayed. Trek was awesome although starting early in the morning would have helped. We trekked with 2 year olds and it was still manageable.
