Always something for everyone.

Many great souvenirs and hand made articles, some created on site as you observe. Check out the weavers.

Interesting and historic is what you will receive with a stroll down the malecon (lakefront/boardwalk). Plenty of shops open on the weekends. Fisherman and pelicans dominate on the quiet days. Beautiful fountain at the centre with a classic church across the street.

Easy sidewalks to walk on. Very friendly people and benched to stop for a rest. There are a few places to dine or have a drink. It is s a very very relaxing walk.

The Malecon (boardwalk) is loaded with a nice variety of things to do, lover's pier, religious shrines, music every 10 feet, restaurants and the buzz of life. It is right across from the gorgeous church , St Franics of Assisi, which is worth a visit in its own right.

A beautiful spot to visit. Great shopping, food, drinks and local culture. You can buy local crafts and food along your walk,or you can eat at one of the many restaurants along the way. As the day ends you can watch the sunset and listen to the street side musicians. Get a glimpse of Mexican culture,a nice way to spend the day.... More

Chapala has long been the haunt of artists and writers but is now better known a retirement destination for gringos. The lakeside malecon is full of fun stalls, some tourist kitsch, some more interesting items. The pier is picturesque and about 5:00pm the day we were there, some pole dancers swung down a vertiginous pole upside down in their local... More

Always lots of activity at the Malecon on weekends. Great place to walk your pets in the early morning. Winter brings all the pelicans to this lake area. Fun to watch them land and take off. Plenty of restaurants and vendors in the area.

It really is a nice place to stroll along the lake. There are very close by spots to stop and have lunch, and there are activities regularly scheduled in the area. You may find yourself wandering in a local arts and crafts show, and added bonus. Well worth a visit.

Very busy on weekends and full of the typical garbage trinkets that no one needs for sale. On the weekend there is almost no parking ever. During the week it's quiet enough to actually enjoy the place more. I much prefer the Malecon in Ajijic to Chapala.
