A must visit for Hindus. Quite important pilgrimage for vaishnavs.
Extremely poor hygiene at chakra teerth. Rest of visiting points, temples are just OK.
Only few hotels available. Room tariffs are exorbitant vs the quality of rooms and fascilities.
No proper food is available.

Naimisharanya is located about 90 kms from Lucknow in the North-west direction and can be reached from Lucknow in about 3-3.5 hours. Preferably by Road.
Naimisharanya is mentioned in Indian Hindu Holy Texts (Puranas) and is considered the place where Puranas were expounded to disciples (Rishis and Munis) of India. Most of the Puranas were written by Ved Vyas Maharaj, but were discriptions of the orally propagated stories by Suta Mahamuni who answered the questions of Shaunaka another Rishi/Muni followed by many Rishis.
Brahmaji is considered to have created Chakra Teertham being the Centre and main attraction of Naimisharanya. Taking Sankalpa Snan and offering Pinda pradan to Pitrus (departed Ancestors) is considered an important duty at the Banks of Chakra Teertham. There are 10-15 places of religious importance in and around (within 15-20 kms) of Naimisharanya. All these places can be covered within one day.
One more important location is the place where Muni Dadeechi lived and sacrificed his body to make Vajra Ayudh for Indra. There is a Dadeechi Kund (Pond of water) where all Teerth in Bharat varsha came and joined for Dadeechi Muni to bath, before he sacrificed.
Even Lord Sri Ram also has performed Yagnya in this location.
Very elevating and electrifying experience.
Accommodation is also available at reasonable rates Rs. 500 per night/day at
Shri Ahobila Math (Tamil Nadu based Math): Sri Narasimhan (Archaka, Under construction Nava Narasimha Mandir)(Mob nos. 9867550316 & 318)
Sri Balaji Mandir, Sri Parasaram Vikhanasacharyulu (08565-251274, 09494423272) (Andhra/Telugu based Math open generally for all).
They also arranged for local Panditjis for Pinda daan karya, which takes about 2 hours (generally done between 12 noon and 2 pm) and costs about Rs.500-1000/-.
Simple North Indian food is available in these places. In the 2 Maths South Indian food is also available.
These places are generally cold between August to February. Best times to visit is All through the year. Pleasant between October to March.
It is understood that on all Amavasya (New Moon) days nearly 4-5 Lakh people visit the place to take bath in Chakra Teerth and offer pinda daan, etc.
For local transportation, Autorickshaws, Cars, etc available. Auto rickshaws are cheapest and charge about Rs.600-1000 for the entire day to show all the 10-15 places of interest in Naimisharanya. The Auto rickshaw drivers are very knowledgeable about the local lores, puranas and other Kshetra Mahatmiya and keep you engaged during the entire trip.
Overall a Very pleasant experience.

Naimisharnya is off the NH from Sidhauli - around 45 kms - taking around 1 hour. Naimisharanya is situated on the banks of river Gomathi, a tributary of river Ganges. Naimisharanya is also known as Neemsar or Naimisha. This town is rich with Hindu Mythology and is known as the place where Sri Chakra stopped when Lord Vishnu used it to cut the body of Sati Devi which ended up creating 51 Sakthi Peet temples. Naimisha hosts one of the Sakthi Peet temples as well as several other important Hindu temples.
Places to see : Goddess Lalitha Devi temple, Devpuri Temple, Shri Naimishnath temple (one of the Divya Desams), Hanuman Garhi temple, Vyas Gaddi, Chakra Thirth, Rudravath temple. Plan 3-4 hours for Naimisharanya.

We went on short trip to Naimisarnya, where Rishis stayed during Vadic age. The site is not yet well developed even though it is a highly important religious and Historic place for Hindus. The most important in Naimisarnya is The Chakra teertha, The saying is that the Rishis went to Brahma and asked for a holy place, where they can do penance or tapasya on the earth and the Lord has sent a Chakra (wheel ) and asked the Rishis to settle at the place where the the Chakra stops. The Chakra stopped at Naimisaranya and the Rishis settled and carried out tapasya and Yagna at this place. The Chakra Teertha is a dual concentric circular structure with water in side. people take bath in side this Teertha. In the evening Arati is performed at this Place. The other important place here are the Vyas Gaddi, where the great Rishi has divided the Vedas, Tthe Dadhichi Kund, where the Rishi Dadhichi sacrificed his life and gave his bones to Indra to make Vajrayudh to kill the demon, Sutha Gaddi, where the great Rishi Suta mahamuni gave pravachans on Puranas, Sita Kund and Gomati Ghat etc. There is Balaji temple, Lalita Devi Temple and some other temples here. The Balaji temple provides accommodation and food for devotees mostly form South India. The place has gained popularity due to the conducting of Bhgavata saptaham and pravachans by the pandits from south india. The important places are all spread out and to visit one has to hire a taxi. Pandits in the temples and other sites pester for donations and offering and performing various pujas and other religious ceremonies. Better to avoid them.
Naimisarnya is considere as one of the holiest places by Hindus, but the neglect by the Government and domination by local priests dent that image.
We stayed at Hotel Krishan Sparsh which is a new construction. The rooms are quite good, spacious with clean bathroom and toilets, The food in the attached restaurant is ok, bit spicy.

Naimisharanya (Neemsar) in UP is a land steeped with Hindu mythology linking it to Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, Goddess Sati and Lord Shiva. The place is unique owing to the belief that it is the land where the pantheon of 33 Hindu God & Goddesses reside. It also believed to be the first most sacred of all pilgrim centres for Hindus. It is said that if one performs penance for 12 years on this land, one moves to Brahmaloka. The place is located on the banks of River Gomti in Sitapur district at a distance of 94 Km from Lucknow. This place finds mention as a dense forest in several ancient scriptures, including the Mahabharata. It is definitely worth a day trip to visit the various shrines. A paved street encircling the town connects the primary shrines and visitors can cover the circuit in a couple of hours. Devaraja temple nearby is one of the 108 divya desam of Lord Vishnu
A huge Lakshmi Narasimhar temple is coming up in the banks Gomathi river which is a blessing for years

Why visit this place?
If you are religious or hindu mythology interests you.
Why not to visit this place?
If you are not religious.
USEFUL HACKS / TIPS
Only visit the pond. That is the real holy place.
Every where else, there are numerous pandits who'll start chanting mantras and ask you a hefty fee of 1000 rps or more. Beware.

We went to Naimisaranya with my friends (6 members, families). It is 85 Kms from Lucknow. We have taken Innova Taxi for Rs 3200/-. After hearing the pravachanams of Sri Chaganti Koteswara Rao we have decided to visit this place at any cost. We started at about 11.00AM and reaced there at 01.45 PM. It is very good place one should see. You can get fine veg meals in devastanam for Rs 60/-. Sri Styanarayana vratam will be performed for Rs500/- daily and very decently by our southern side Pujaris. We had Chakra thertha snanam there. If any one travels to Varanasi or Agra they can easily go by train or taxi. The importance of that place is very clearly explained by Sri Chaganti Koteswara Rao. Many Andhra .Karnataka.Tamilnadu people are coming to this place . For night halt it is not suitable pl.
