A place to contemplate the creation of Australia, and to remember the sacrifices of WWI. There was no glory in 1916 but there was selfless sacrifice.
I am pleased we continue to remember.
Highly recommended.

I Finally got to where my Grandfather started his WW1 exploits after the Cooee' March and his sign up in August 1915 ! Got a GSW on the 20th July , fight over for now and marched back to Battalion 7th October.and went through till the end in Sept/Oct 1918 ! Welcome to the Great War Granddad ! So I had a real connection as I walked around the Park, maybe one of his mates carried him back to the closest first aid stations ? Don't know ! All I know is that this is an amazing place and I teared up thinking not just of him, he survived till 1940, but all the ones who didn't !! It is a piece of Australia forever etched on our Memory !

To stand on this battlefield as an Australian was an exceptionally moving experience. Looking around it is only peaceful fields and the occasional farm house. But to think of the horror that men on both sides endured really makes you think as you stand on the memorial ground in peacetime. To see emplacements still standing and some as they were left after the war finished heaved up out of the ground, lay testament to the ferocity of the battles that must of taken place. Even if you don't have a interest in WW1 history I would dare you not to be moved by a visit to this memorial.

A special site with a beautiful image of "the Cobber". A visit to this place has more depth if you are aware of what happened here more than a century ago. The information boards available do provide a clear explanation, but otherwise visit the museum in Fromelles first, or read up in advance, so that you are better informed about the entire history.

The Battle of Fromelles was the Australians first battle on the Western Front of the Great War. It was also one of their bloodiest. The Battle of Fromelles Museum is small but impressive. It describes the fascinating work that was required to excavate and identify the bodies discovered in Pheasant Wood ninety-two years after the Battle of Fromelles. It tells the story of the battle and the lives of some of the soldiers who fought in it.

Beautiful sculpture , only 500 m from the museum commemorating the Australian soldiers. The sculpture is essentially placed where the German front line was and the are remnants of concrete bunkers but not too much to see of that.

One of the many places I am taken to by my husband. He tells me where we I going and I nod my head, but I am not listening. So when we got here I was really amazed, a sculpture that evokes all sorts of emotions, but so pertinent to what it is all about.
I am not Australian, but have taken many photos of Australian war graves.I always think of the young men so far away from home, it is so right that this amazing memorial park is here for them and their descendants.
There is always a atmosphere of peace wherever you go to Commonwealth War graves in France and this one is an amazing example.

We have been lucky enough to visit Fromelles on three occasions. Each time we have attended the Australian memorial park. A moving experience that makes you reflect away from your own world and towards the perils of the boys doing their best for those to come.

You’ll find this on your hike of the battlefield starting from the Fromelles Museum. There is a sculpture of a soldier carrying a wounded soldier off the battlefield called “Cobbers” and remnants of a bunker with rusted rebar that even 100 years later looks impenetrable.

A quintessential statute that speaks without saying a word.
A statue that reminds us all about what it means to help another.
A statue that reminds us to never forget.
