About
Initial name of the Chaqchan was "Ju-Khang" that was calls by the Bonpos. This name was changed into hLa-khang, when the entire population with their kings embraced into Buddhists faith. During 7th Century this monastery was reconstructed and changed into a Jami-Masjid, when the Noorbakhshi Sufi Muslim priest Mir Syed Ali Hamadani entered into Baltistan and introduced Islam.

A truly artistic building, this historic mosque is definitely worth a visit. The imam was very hospitable and gave us a full history of the site.

This is beautiful but you may find it a bit over rated. Do visit while visiting this particular valley and take shots on top floor

Definitely worth a visit if you are in Khaplu. It's a really old mosque and has such a authentic charm. The wood work is really beautiful and this mosque is worth a visit if you are in the area. Please leave a donation as it's an old mosque and does need some renovation work to restore it to it's former glory.

Lovely mosque in the middle of Khaplu. I walked here from the Serena, and really enjoyed both the walk and the mosque itself. It also has great views.

Stunning mosque from the 14th century, nested in a small village. Visiting it is a great and unique moment.

This is a mosque at a vantage point and still under the shadow of a huge mountain. Getting there is a good hike but it's worth the visit.

At prayer times, busy with locals living or working around there. Our guide took us around and explained the name and history of a prominent landmark, which today is a tourist attraction off prayer times.
It means a Miracle Mosque and is one of the very early mosques in the District. It has Mughal architecture incorporated, though built in the 14th century it is timber and plaster - half timbered.

Masjid Chqchan means the Miraculous mosque is one of the earliest mosques in the region, located in Khaplu, Ghanche, Gilgit-Baltistan, and also most famous landmarks and a major tourist attraction.
