We arrived at the jump off point to the Barangay Hall of Daraitan at around 9am then proceeded to the other side of the river bank via balsa/bangka to get to the Barangay Hall. Upon reaching the river bank, you need to ride the trike to get to the Barangay Hall to register and pay the tourist fee, from the Barangay Hall we took the trike to get to the starting point of the Tinapak River, we walked for about 30-45mins one way depending on your phase. There are two toll/entrance fees here (one at the Rizal border--no receipt issued and the other, for Quezon border--with receipt). We made a short stop at the Tinapak River Camping Ground (private owned property which has store where you can buy food/drinks if you want to) before heading to the view point of Tinapak River. Recommend to take this trip early in the morning since it could be scorching hot at noon/afternoon. The view of the rocks and the river itself is rewarding. You can swim at designated areas in the river.

Great adventure! A nice place to trek. It was a fresh and tranquil place with a near clear waters. Not bad for a first time trekker. This is worth the hike place for its breathtaking views.

Tinipak River is one of the best places to visit in the Philippines. I filed a week-off on December 2 to go to Tanay, Rizal for a small vacation with my family. We then went to Tanay on December 4 and went to our hotel. The day after, we went to Tinipak River. The river was mesmerizing! We went swimming for an hour, the water was warm and just right for the body. After a long time of swimming, we dried up and realized our skin were soft and smooth! We went home 2 days after. Looking forward to coming back here!

Drove all the way there and have to park beside the river and ride a balsa to get across. We stayed at Tinipak Lodge and Resto. They fetch us from the river going to their place via 4x4. The owners are pleasant and accommodating. We brought our own tent and have to pay for just 300 if not mistaken. We are allowed to cook our own food with our own cookset with no fee. We also tried some of their food after we hiked as we were damn tired from hiking. We were accompanied by a local guide who is very patient with us. There are 2 peaks, one is the heart peak a 1 hour trek depending on your pacing, and a 4 hour trek summit. We chose the heart peak and the view is breath taking. The trek down was quite challenging since it muddy and slippery. Then you will see the river which was quite a breeze. We sure hd fun, hope u do too 😁

Mountain Daraitan is very famous for Sunrise view as this is highest peak in this region. If you want to see the Sunrise, need to reach at the top by 6 AM, so that you can rest a while for 10 to 15 minutes and then enjoy the Sunrise. The Mountain is full of Rocks and thick jungle.
We started from Makati city by Van - a group of 17 visitors at 11 PM and reached Daraitan town in Tanay at 2 AM. Last 1 hour drive was rough due to no real road. Towards end, you cross the river Tinipak over a narrow wooden bridge. We started to climb at 3:30 AM with a local guide with us. the Guide was carrying a Wireless Walkie Talkie. You must carry at Touch with Headband - so that your hands are free and need to wear hand gloves - as while going up or coming down, you have to take support of the Rocks (may have sharp edges) or Trees. Always follow your guide else you will be lost, the Path is muddy at some places. there are 3 stations (small rest area) where you get Coconut water or Coffee.
We reached at the Sunrise Point at 6 AM however could not see the Sunrise due to Clouds and Fog, but the weather at the top (about 2700 Feet altitude) was pleasant. we had good photo shoot and then started to another peak called "Heart Peak" about 1 hour walk - passing through Rocks and caves. At Heart Peak Point you see splendid view of river Tinipak. Here you have facility to take some snacks and place to sit and relax.
From there we walked down - thorough rocks and rocks at the base near river. Had lunch in Daraitan and returned back to Makati by evening.
It is a good and slightly tough Trek but I am sure you will enjoy it.

I hired a six seater well maintained van with driver Ralph from Tourist Driver Manila. Cost for 10 hours was P3500 plus about P700 for fuel, and optional tip to the competent driver.
We departed Quezon City at 0930 hours and after about 50km on a scenic mountain road, with the last 11km mostly unpaved, fairly rough and often muddy, se arrived.
As it was Bonifacio Day there were at least 30 vans parked, but weekdays and nirmal weekends would be less busy.
We took the P5 bargain raft across the Tinipak River after visiting the CR (toilet) for P10 each.
Then we hired a tricycle for seven minutes at a cost of P75 to the barangay registration point where the guide gave a two minute orientation. The latter cost P500 with the second trike to the river a further P500, plus a P30 per person environmental fee.
The walk was very scenic. Viewable or through lovely forest, the clean river that had small rapids and lots of bamboo stair climbing. At times the track was slippery. The guide became a Sherpa, carrying my bag and helping to negotiate the tricky bits. There is a basic restaurant halfway along. A ferocious dog that incessantly barked was chained in a cage.
We saw many butterflies and red dragonflies.
The limestone rock formations are worthy of good photographers.
On the way back we waded in the cool crisp water of a tributary near a tiny waterfall.
The walk took an hour each way.
All in all a great day out. Traffic can be heavy returning past shopping centres.

(because we are 1st timers, we did our adequate research about hiking and Mt. Daraitan in general).....
BUT we are still SHOOKT! It was soooooo challenging MGA BES! XD
We underestimated the 4/10 difficulty and 90% Assault that we have read on the internet LMAO
Good thing, we have the BEST travel guide on our side, kuya Marlowin, a resident of Rizal that took care of us throughout the trip (and we are returning the favor by posting his number here!). He's an experienced hiker so if you want an all-around guide (slash photographer, slash Hugot King haha!) just look for this guy. If it weren't for him, we might have cried right from the start T_T
The scenery when you reach the Summit, Heart Peak and the Tinipak River are all worth it!
Tips:
- Do not go during rainy season, weekends, and holidays.
- Best time to start: between 3AM to 6AM
- Wear appropriate hiking shoes. Socks, gloves, raincoats, waterproof bag can be bought near the Brgy. Hall
- For first-timers, it's best if you search for a place to spend the night in Sampaloc before going to Brgy. Daraitan
- Pls. contact kuya Marlowin Mendoza (0997-947-1822)
IF YOU NEED A TRAVEL GUIDE. Highly recommended!

With the limited info I got on internet,I DIY this trip.
- 2hr minivan journey (80peso)
Packed like sardines sharing with 18pax.
Sharing poor ventilation and body odours.
Dont ask about legroom.
My knees hurt like I climbed Mt Daraitan. For once blood circulation comes to mind.
+
30KM tricycle ride (500peso)
1hr
I am sooooo thankful I didnt follow the travel devil renting a motorcycle on my own.
Oh my ears!! 1 hr of blazing motor engine. Not for the faint hearted
The rough roads leading to Barangay Hall was hell.
I would probably end up crying and giving up the first 10km.
Tricycle drivers in Tanay are the best!
I shudder to think what could happen if they were not honest, kind riders.
In that situation,
Anything could happen to me.Anything.
This was the path that not even locals knew.
+
Paddle boat to Tinipak camping site (5 peso)
This was an experience.
I saw 2 boats and I wonder where to sit.
Then they told me to stand.😂😂
+
Tricycle Ride (120peso)
Coz I was lazy to trek the full hour,I only did 20mins of trek.
Upon reaching ending point, there were many stray dogs. And I am have a phobia against stray dogs.
So I had to make U-turn to the starting point.
End up,I trekked a full hour.
Like WTH!!🤣🤣
We are only 2, me and my wife. Can we go here even just the 2 of us?

Are you asking if you can drive by yourself to get here? The answer is Yes.
Are you asking if you can hike by yourselves? You have to get yourselves a tour guide in the Tourist Service Center and the guide will hike with you even if it's just the two of you. I don't really know if you can opt out but for our safety, we followed the procedures.

Enjoy, definitely! Doable, be prepared. My cousin and I are in our 50’s... I would classify her as a couch potato lol and me fairly fit; I had no troubles on the ascent but the descent was very hard on my knees whereas she was the opposite, ascent very difficult but descending no issues. Depending upon how many in your group, break into fit vs non-fit then hire the appropriate number of guides. This allows everyone to go at their own pace and if need be separate and return back. Our guide was wonderful and acted as our ‘human cane’ for the difficult areas and there are a lot of them. Start as early as you can, it took us 4.5 hours each way, on average 15 minutes rest at base camps and lots of ‘catch your breath’ breaks along the trail. Watch weather as would not recommend if it has rained. The day we hiked it rained night prior, path very slippery and muddy. I did not wear gloves, but would also recommend, rocks can be sharp and there can be thorns on some trees/vines which I would have grabbed but our guide caught me in time. Also highly suggest shoes with very good grip. I wore hiking sandals and two hours into hike had blisters on each foot. Have at least 2 litres of water per person, the base camps have some food and refreshments but our favorite buko juice was all gone by the time we made our descent.
This was our first time hiking this mountain and was definitely worth it. My cousin was very sore the following day and had difficulty moving afterwards. I described myself as fairly fit; low impact activities as I have bad knees: walk 2-3 miles 4-5 days a week, gentle yoga twice a week, kayak or paddle board 4-8 times a month. I just started strength training (two months ago) and I really believe this is what helped the most. I woke up the next morning with only slight aching in my knees :-)
Each person in your group needs to be realistic in assessing their physical fitness and if you can prepare and strengthen beforehand, I would do it. Good luck, be safe and take your time. I felt the need to rush and didn’t want to hold anyone back, but don’t feel this way - listen to your body, go slow and take breaks.
