- pradeepjbimsThane, India41 contributionsVisited in dec 2019 - view is fantasticMe and my family including 8 year kid and wife had travelled by boat from Palolem beach . It was a good trip. The beach is inhabitated and we took some good photos . Suggest to go in the morning at 8.30 am IST from palolem beach by sharing boat. Typically they charge INR 400 for each person .Visited December 2019Travelled with familyWritten 31 December 2019
- Ian CWirral, United Kingdom143 contributionsBeing spoiled by inconsiderate touristsIt is a bit of an anathema that a tourist spot is being spoiled by tourists, but this secluded and difficult to reach place is now something of a dumping ground for tourists who leave their litter here and do not take it back with them to dispose of sensibly. It used to be very quiet and was known as the honeymoon and love beach because of its seclusion, sadly not any more. Unfortunately at Palolem beach there are many "fishing" boat owners touting for an easier life by offering dolphin and butterfly beach trips and at 400 rupees or so for each person. In a way I can't blame them. If you do go then you need to take your drinks and food for the day with you, but please take it back with you when you leave, its not much to ask.Visited December 2019Written 2 January 2020
- David DDevon, United Kingdom20,230 contributionsNice beach - lovely scenerySaturday 1st February and we took a boat trip from Palolem Beach along the coast in the direction of Agonda Beach. On the itinerary was a stop at this this small secludef beach. Unlike some other beaches this one is accessible by boat and also by climbing down the headland pathway. The beach has been named due to it's shape, the headland resembles the shape of butterfly wings. This was more obvious from out at sea rather than up close. When we were here, the beach with it's golden sand, was virtually deserted apart from a few visitors walking along the beach. There are no facilities on this beach, so if planning to spend some time here, make sure to bring everything you require including water. Our boat guide did offer us the opportunity to go ashore on to the beach to take some photos, we declined so we continued on our trip to the next highlight. We were pleased to have taken the boat trip which enabled us to see places like this beach.Visited February 2020Written 6 February 2020

One of the nicest local un crowded beaches of south goa and for short trek lovers its a blissful way.
I went during rainy season (monsoon season) worth visiting in june-july month.
(One of the hidden gems)
₹100 entry for bike 1.5km
₹0 by foot
Camping available near the parking inside.
Note: if you go please don’t spoil the place with garbage. (If you’re planning to cook or do family picnic please bring garbage bags so you can take them back)

We went to the Butterfly beach this year in June. The beach is located quite remotely and one can take a gypsy up to a certain point. We took the gypsy and then walked for about 5 minutes to reach the beach. The beach is good, but people need to be educated in terms of not dumping the garbage there. We could see so many cans, plastic bags, chips packets on the shore. A little maintenance can do wonders to this otherwise hidden gem of Goa. But otherwise, it is a must visit.

Horrible it is. You have to walk a lot to reach the beach. It does not make sense to go here. People putting things in insta are stupid and so are their opinions. Do not go here. Overhyped. Nothing extraordinary. More of a forest trail than beach.

If you are into being surrounded by screaming selfie obsessed couples and enjoy sunbathing surrounded by plastic rubbish, in and out of the sea, this beach is for you.
This once a beautiful secluded beach really was a butterfly beach with a small sweet water lagoon that was fed by the water coming from the forests.
All this is now gone and has been replaced during the season by endless fishing boats dropping off and picking up noisy tourists who seem more interested it selfies than surf.
The back end of the beach is like one giant rubbish dump of broken shoes, nappies , broken glass, plastic bottles, crisp packets and so on. Scooters and jeeps have created dirt roads to this beach and like everywhere, is being destroyed.
The valley here is known as leopard valley so the built a huge night club in the middle of it. And so the butterflies have now gone.

We absolutely recommend taking a boat trip from Palolem or Agonda to explore nearby shores and if you are lucky see dolphins in waters around these beaches. Boats are not expensive, crews are friendly and it's a good and safe experience for families with kids.
I do not recommend staying on the Butterfly beach. The minute we left the boat we wanted to go back out. The beach could be a local gem but it's overcrowded with not much to do and it's filled with rubbish. It's a shame that tourists leave so much of the litter all over the place when there are bins provided. Then everyone on the beach are taking selfies with rubbish in the background. Absurd. Better to give it a proper look from the boat and stay on the sea.

Great beach itself, but extremely crowded. A lot of people come with boats which are noisy and take up a lot of space on the beach. Sadly not much of a hidden gem which we hoped it would be

This is a scam.
The trek to the beach is long, dirty, unsafe, and you will have to battle insects and mosquitos, bikes and scooters and off-road vehicles while on it. It is about 3 KM from the closest parking for 4 wheelers and 2 KM from the closest for 2 wheelers. The trek is in no way worth the beach.
The beach itself is barely a beach, it’s a tiny cove with boulders on either sides, and a very steep slope into the sea. It is littered with plastic, coconut shells, and general waste. It smells like a toilet.
There’s nothing about this beach you’d want to make the effort, probably smart to just skip it.

Are the boats available around sunrise from Palolem to butterfly beach? How long does it take to complete entire tour of dolphin sighting, monkey island, honeymoon beach and butterfly beach? Out of this total duration, how much time are we allowed to spend on honeymoon and butterfly beaches? How much do they charge nowadays?

Boats are available from Palolem to butterfly beach. Local operators make this happen. Approx 200 to 300 per head we were 9 in one boat. we left @ 8am and returned just before lunch. Overall time taken approx 5 to 6 hrs. You can spend a couple of hours easily on the beach, discuss this with your boat operator for overall time spend. Dolphin sighting is your luck may not always see it. Not sure of monkey island. trust this answers your questions

You will get one easily from Palolem Beach. Timing entirely depends upon you like how long you want to stay there. Anyway most people generally start during 10-11 AM.

Hi there, sorry for being late...Hope you have already been there by now..Still right at Tar-road's end as you just get on to the trail, that's say 2 hrs walk from the beach, there's few places to stay...Use Google Maps and choose one of your liking... Hope this helps...
Can we night camp here? Is there any permission required?

This beach is very small and isolated. You can reach here by boat or by trekking. Night camp will definitely not be safe and I don't think this is permissible!
