Ripponlea is a beautiful, heritage listed property from the 19th century which comprises a large furnished house with ballroom and swimming pool which is set in a beautiful garden. The garden is a good place to take families for a picnic as there is plenty of shade with large trees in abundance.

This wasn't my first visit to this place, and won't be my last (with any luck)! I still don't know whether the house or the garden is my favourite part, but the whole experience is magical. What a treasure. Well worth the entry fee to keep this place open!

A beautiful NT property in Elsternwick near Melbourne. Originally owned by an English draper who emigrated to Melbourne just in time when the Gold Rush hit so he made his fortune selling clothes. A beautiful place. The interior had been set in 1938 lovely place. It also has the Worlds largest fernery great day out.

Under the care of the National Trust it was only the garden in which I walked and photographed extensively. Such a grand vision to attempt to capture the wondrous sights presented from any and every angle...the mature exotic and native plantings, the water courses welcoming avian species, the shaded pathways, uneven and narrow in parts so requiring sure balance and... Great way to spend a Sunday with the family walking around the gardens. Best part was the guided tour of the house.

Beautiful gardens hidden away from a busy area. House is beautiful but the gardens are even more magnificent. Something to see at every turn.

Our guide, Helen, gave us a most interesting tour of the house and a history of the original owners. Well worth seeing if you like historic houses and have a sense of history. Five stars.

As a fan of the Miss Fisher tv series I had been meaning to visit when in Melbourne & now I have. RipponLea is fabulous 19th century homestead in the inner suburbs in excellent condition. Anyone interested in history will enjoy exploring this place & its magnificent gardens.

A very interesting guided tour of the house and a good walk around the delightful grounds. The kitchens, fern house, swimming pool area and lake were good to visit. Good contrasts with UK architecture and furnishing of similar period. Good coffee shop. Easy access from Central Melbourne by suburban train.
