We enjoyed the visit, the stuff was specially nice, the falcons and owls were pretty and some of them quite cheeky (50 days old falcons got as close as they could, about 2 cm from my face but with the cage between us). The highlight was definitely the flight display at 2 pm, where one of the falcons were released... More

we went past this a few times on our travels and on our last day decided to go have a look, but because we were there early in the morning and the show didn't start till 2-30 they allowed us to pay a child rate to go and have a look at their museum and the aviaries, the were extremely... More

Wingspan is a project aimed at saving the native NZ Falcon. Its a little bit out of the way, but with GPS and tours able to take you there its an easy 25 minute drive from town. When we went they did not just have falcons but also Morepork, the NZ Owl. Its impressive what this group are trying to... More

This is a great place to visit, especially for genuine conservation fans. The establishment doesn't have as high a budget as some other, more showier organisations, but the work done here is fantastic - birds are actually rehabilitated to the point where they can be released back into the wild again. If you love birds of prey you'll love to... More

We visited here on a Saturday about 1pm, as the falcon flight display takes place at 2pm. Parking is on the halfway onto the grass, and can get a bit muddy after some rain. The place looks like it could do with a bit of a make over in various spots. Call into the visitor centre to pay for tickets,... More

Of all the things we did in Rotorua- my 9 yr old son loved this the best. The chance to get this close to NZ's endangered falcon! Very inspiring place - great opportunity to support awesome NZ conservation in action.

If you want to pay $25 per adult to watch one type of Falcon cut some laps then this is the thing for you. I was expecting something like the Taronga Zoo in Sydney flying display but this fell well short. Not enough chairs for everyone and left standing in mud. If you want to charge premium prices then provide... More

Our family thoroughly enjoyed looking through the museum & the birds. The flying display was very interesting & our guide, Heidi was warm, engaging & willing to answer any questions. We were made comfortable with blankets & umbrellas to keep us dry. It was a lovely touch to be offered a hot drink at the end of our visit. The... More
