Fabulous place to go check out. For the show we saw Kirsten doing her first show. She although a bit nervous was fabulous. Really informative and great to see the Falcon out in the wild. Make sure you get there before 2pm. The show really is it, I wouldn't expect it to be particularly exciting if you just went to... More

Just an all over amazing and informative experience. The highlight was definitley the NZ falcon show, their speed and accuracy when targeting their prey is something to behold.

We have often talked about going here before but never quite got there. You must go at feeding time, after 2pm. Hedi gave such an amazing information packed talk that I was happy to sit there for longer. I saw the faces on the others, there was about 50 people this particular day and they were all riveted. I certainly... More

We didn't realize that the bird shows were the "thing" about this place so we went when there was no show and checked out the aviary. It is a good set up. You can see the birds are well cared for. The bird show was amazing though. It was really cool watching them fly. The staff is very passionate and... More

Make sure you arrive for the 2pm flying display as that's the main attraction. There are passionate staff who are friendly and only too willing to have a chat and answer questions. There is a quirky museum and a few aviaries with a small number of birds on display. The freezer full of ice creams was a god send on... More

2nd time around and this place will truly capture your heart. The aviary is wonderful for seeing the beautiful birds up close and the flying display is so informative and just spectacular to watch. They will try to ensure that you get to hold a falcon, however please be aware that these are not pets and therefore the safety of... More

Wing span is a place to see wild life up close in person. They show a hachery with cute little birds. Then you can see all the carnivorous birds and have the chance to have a falcon on you hand. This place is great.

It was really interesting watching the birds hunt. Commentary was good. Great setup with different aviaries and birds. Would recommend it.

Although small,Wingspan is run by dedicated caring staff. The flying of New Zealand's native endangered falcon is spectacular. The birds on display are well looked after and those released are only done so when fit enough to survive in the wild. Enjoyed our visit.

We found out about this activity quite by chance in looking through the pamphlet's whilst waiting for the Self-Drive Rail Cars in the Mamaku Ranges and what an incredible opportunity to get close up to some of our birds of prey many people don't even notice flying above whilst driving around. A great show with a very knowledgeable team of... More
