Enjoying this great work of nature surrounded by silence and wind is well worth a quick stop here, which looks even better at sunrise. If you enjoy these columns, do take the road "Hovsegg" between the near villages of Hov and Ørðavík to see other, a bit different basalt formation, located on the side the hill closer to Hov

This is also one of the must see on FO. It looks like they have been building the wall, but it's all natures hand, I can recommend to visit this, and the island in general, it's just beautiful. Enjoy your trip.

The small boat trip hugging the coast line of these cliffs, some 600 meters high was a highlight of our trip to the Faroes. Boats leave from the Vestmanna Tourist Center and tickets can be purchased there or online. . The boat goes between some of the cliffs. Bird watching is good, but we saw better places for bird watching... More

Take a quick stop to look at some unusual basalt column formations worth seeing. Enormous layers of basalt laid down by gigantic volcanoes in the tertiary period some 60 million years ago. I have been told that water had ingress through the upper surfaces of lava flows modifying their cooling rates producing wavy columns. Columnar jointed volcanic rocks exist in... More

These are in the middle of the village of Frodba on Suduroy. There's not a lot to do there - it's just a level of Basalt Cliffs - but they are cool to see and worth a quick stop!

These columns are really interesting and we enjoyed them on an evening walk from Trivoyri. We also went on a Geology Tour which I think can be organised from the information centre. We saw some amazing folded basalt columns on the mountain road back from Porkeri. I think we would have missed the had we not been on the tour.

While driving through Frodba on the Island of Suduroy, you will pass some basalt cliffs. You can also talk a short walk to view some more basalt pillars down by the water in Frodba but you will have to park the car and walk down through a meadow to explore the second set. If you ask at the tourist bureau... More
