This is a quiet ok place!
But the tidewater is really significant and half of the pier is on land almonds…
So better to be here when it’s high water!

You can hire your own private long tail boat from opposite the pier for around 5,000 baht for the entire day.

It's well worth doing and you will be in very safe hands and away from the hordes.

We hired ours from a nice reggae loving guy called Sunshine cokecoke. You can find him on Facebook and Google using that name.

We started at around 8:30am and were back around 4pm.

We were two adults and two kids - five and eight - and were very well looked after. They included some bottles of water and some fresh pineapple to keep us going. Otherwise it's self-catering.

Some of the islands have places where you can buy food. Rang Yai has a restaurant which takes credit cards too if you're strapped for cash.

The boat operators have a set tour but are completely happy to change it to suit you. We skipped James Bond island and asked for some clear water to do snorkeling. They supplied masks and snorkels.

A really nice pier with nice restaurant whilst we were waited for our transfer speedboat to Koh Yao Yai Village, our 2nd resort for summer holiday.
Excellent service from boat agency representatives, got to ride in a golf car transfer from the agency office to the pier – hahaha  - which we can walk, but hey ho, we were on holiday.
The restaurant was really good too, nice delicious food and good service.

Ao Po Grand Marina is about a 30 minutes' drive from Phuket Airport. It is the place for getting speedboats to spectacular Phang Nag Bay. We started our speedboat ride to Six Senses Yao Noi Island from Ao Po Pier. It is a very elegant pier with many restaurants, bars and yacht service shops. A very elegant place!

We took a speedboat trip to Railay from here one morning. It was a very efficient and professional service. The pier was clean and tidy, the staff were friendly and helpful. The actual speed boat was fantastic.

Stopped in for a drink while waiting for our boat to Phi Phi Ko Island. Nice atmosphere and service. Had a wonderful Negroni and Espresso Martini along with a fruit plate . Wish we had more time for lunch, because seemed like a nice meal.

We booked a tour in Patong which we were told was inclusive of all charges. When we got to Ao Po Pier our transfer shuttle dropped us off at one of the cafes to meet our tour operator. We walked down to the Pier to head to our boat. It wasn’t until we were seated on the Pier transfer bus that we were told that everyone had to pay a 20 Baht Pier charge to be transported to the boat. If you did not pay you went no further. Many people complained that they were told there were no extra charges upon booking the day tour. In the end you had a choice of paying the toll or losing over 6000 Baht for the tour. I didn’t have a problem having to pay the Pier toll for the upkeep of the Pier. It just should be stated as an extra when booking. Just make sure you take extra money if your tour is leaving from this Pier.
