The Museum of Power is an attraction for anyone interested in types of engines and machines which are power related. Quoting from the leaflet available "Housed in a former Pumping Station the museum contains a fascinating collection which ranges from a working belt-driven machine shop to a petrol powered iron." The museum is set in seven acres of grounds with... More

Our U3A Group decided to visit the Museum of Power, as it is fairly local, and we chose a day when they had their Classic Car Rally, on the 14th May. I love classic cars from my childhood and there were more than enough examples there this day to satisfy my enthusiasm, all beautifully and lovingly restored. There were plenty... More

This is an old water pumping station for the area. They hold special event weekend throughout the year. I'm sure there is a lot more that could be displayed if they had the space.( a lot of tarpaulins out the back) The staff are very keen to answer any questions and guide you through what is on show. Well worth... More

We enjoyed this museum, especially the part you can try how things work. As usual, we found out lots of information we never knew. Thanks to the reasonable size it is well suited for kids as well. Cafe offers any food, we only tried scones with tea and coffee but were happy with a helpful staff when we found out... More

Not exactly a day out as its not quite big for a whole day but maybe a morning or afternoon. Was very good value at £5per adult and kids under 4 free . The lady working there was lovely and spent a lot of time with us talking through bits of machinery. We did the robot hunt were our son... More

An interesting place to visit. They often have events on so can be busy, check the website. Really nice museum with plenty to see for an hour or two. The gardens are lovely too. Plenty of free parking. The coffee shop does a good breakfast as well!

Visited on new years day with my usual crew, to give the kids a bit more focus, they arranged a find the robot quiz, which encouraged you to visit all the areas in order to draw a picture of each robot dotted around the event - get them all, win some sweets!!! Quite interesting to see all the different engines... More

The Museum of Power is a little known gem. For those with an interest in anything mechanical you will love this place. The steam driven water pump is enormous (three stories high) so standing next to it makes you feel like you have been shrunk in size. It is a great way to see how an engine works as it... More

This is a great place to bring out your inner Engineer. Plenty of things for smaller people to look at, buttons to press and stuff to learn without realising it. A great tour by the knowledgeable Graham into the underground depths of the great pumping machinery still in place. This is in working order and operates on certain days so... More
