    Beautiful cultural show
It was a really interesting showcase. Would definitely recommend to go see it. Just take note that some periods of the year, it is indoor instead of outdoor (overlooking the Prambanan temple). Unfortunately in Dec it was indoors so we missed watching with the backdrop of Prambanan temple. It is ok if you don’t know the story prior to the show as there were slides telling the scenario in English as well so that you won’t get lost in the performance. About an hour and a half show, just nice :)

    Enjoy the show
They had subtitles to go with the play for those who are lost abt the story. Because it’s the monsoon season the sitting was in the indoor theatre but think they could have made an exception if the weather holds up. The Prambanan temple backdrop would have completed the experience

Being from India and also as I am in the midst of reading the Valmiki Ramayana(there is a traditional ritualistic method of reading), the Ballet experience was amazing. The narration in the form of a dance-drama was very apt in so far as the story (mind you it is a 24002 couplets story) could how well be abridged for the dance-drama to convey the essence the epic. Hats off to Indonesia for giving a wonderful glimpse of this great work which is most sacred to the Hindus. There could not have been a better venue for this classic programme than the precincts of the mighty Prambanan Temple complex. Words are insufficient to convey my appreciation of the Indonesian Government for preserving their ancient culture and traditions despite their transition to other cultural practices'.

Went here with my colleagues as we want to experience traditional show. The show is quite long 2 hr. It is best have early dinner before coming here. We bought the middle tier ticket and sat on a hard stone for 2 hr. It was numbing 🤣. The vip ticket there’s cushion ontop. The show is slow and long to the build up of the story. The climax was only towards the end. It is outdoor show and starts i think about 7.30pm. There is a short break in between. U can get snacks and drinks as well on the premise. Once i think is enough coming here and if you missed it, not a big deal at all.

This is ab absolute must do. The Ramayana performance is intricate and beautifully performed. It is simple to understand and there is a translation in English

It was not the usual outdoor but indoors but it is one of the best productions I have seen. It is important to note that for most of the people who were performing it is not about their religion. Great performane, choreography and background musical scores. Not to miss at all if you are making a trip.

The performance was real quality and performed by good dancers. The story was easy to follow for us as Indians and the leaflet handed out before the show helped others to follow the story. There was some great pyrotechnics at display too during the performance.
The food was very average and small quantity. I would recommend for people to only buy the performance package and have dinner on their own before going for the show.

I have visited Prambanan a couple times during the days. For the first time I had an opportunity to visit Prambanan and enjoy the Ramayana Ballet at 7 pm. It wasn't as spectacular as Kecak, Balinese Dance, but it is a must try tourist destination in Jogja. It represents the richness culture of Javanese-Hinduism. The stage, the seats, the casts are amazing. What I love the most is the background, The Majestic Prambanan Temple. The true meaning of beauty ! Mesmerizing !

The ticket price is very affordable. I suggest to get the VVIP since they provide more comfortable seats with cushions. For the lower class, the seats are cement-made, not so comfortable for 2 hour performance.

Featuring Ramayana ballet in various episodes. In general, Javanese dance, but once in awhile there are ballet from other regions in Indonesia.
