Lake Toba can be a hit-or-miss. If you head to the holidaymaker town of Parapat, it feels just like a normal lake. But if you head to the Northern end of Lake Toba around the fishing village of Tongging, the steep view is incredible! Also, don't forget to make a day trip into the Samosir Island which lies right in... More

We did a day trip to Lake Toba, it took all together 13 hours to go to The Lake Toba and Sipisopiso waterfall and came back to our hotel in Medan. Actually, should stay overnight , it will be more enjoyable trip. It was nice and very huge Lake and there was a Samosir island in the middle. Good experience... More

Such a lovely place for a break from life... perfect for trip with either friends or families! You would enjoy so much out door activities here, from cycling, swimming, paragliding, jet skiing; while not forgetting to experience their special and unique local culture; as well as some of the best coffee beans are available here.

Yet I never have been there :( I just across the street next the lake to go to my parents home. We could see beautiful scenery of Toba lake from the street.. yet it will be greater if you (i mean me, :( huhu) make a stop there.

Accompanied by fresh air and incredible view, this place has become one of my favorite place to visit. Being the largest volcanic lake in the world, it has been an attraction for local and overseas visitors. Having said that, I still find that this wonderful place is not so well-looked after by local people and local government. Apart from that,... More

Danau Toba's stakeholder maybe just develop the main attraction without develop the facilities among them. Tourist didn't feel easiness to enjoy the lake without distraction from bad facilities. It just... Lake and hotels.

I couldn't believe that it was actually a lake, it is so huge! And has simply exquisite natural beauty, hills surrounding it! Absolutely breathtaking! The island inside the lake was a bit disappointing but other than that everything was perfect!

We chartered a boat to take us out to the island to see the Batak village. It was very laid back and the water was very still. Even got to drive the boat for awhile. Amazing what can happen when you ask. Very pleasant day on the water.
