Truly stunning! Worth the trip. The craftsmanship and history are breathtaking. Guides were fun, funny and informative. Ask about the Norwegian mountain monkeys.

I’m an atheist but I often visit churches in Europe as I travel because they hold so much history and stories of the local people. Flam church is a lovely 3.5km walk along the river from Flam. The church was built in 1670 and is beautiful. This church cemetery reveals the rich history of the local area.

Flam Church is about a 3 km walk from the village .It has a lovely setting with the mountains and the river flowing at the back of the church. There is a lovely cemetery in the church grounds .
Inside there is unusual wall art ,it is well worth the walk to see the church.Entry is free but you can make a donation.

The church is different looking to the other Norwegian churches and has a nice backdrop with the mountains and rivers. It was not open at the time of our visit but we still had a look around the grounds.

We have seen the church from the window of our train from Flam to Myrdal. Information about this church was on the information screen inside the car. The church was built on the basement of another older church 500 y ago.

Very unique and unusual. Paintings on walls from the 1600s. Very sweet and look in the grave yard to notice the generations do family’s buried there.

Nice walk up the valley. Not strenuous.

I took a run and passed this church. It looked like there were gravestones in the yard and people were wandering about. It looks very old.

Lovely walk through Flam and then came to this church. It is a nice pretty church and well worth having a look as you go through the tourist town.

We did the most enjoyable walk, about 3-4 miles round trip from Flam up to Old Flam to visit this lovely church. The churchyard surrounding the church is neatly set out with headstones and flowers. Worth mentioning on the right of the churchyard is a small building with a well kept, clean, public toilet!
The church is typically traditional Norwegian, old painted walls, plenty of wood and neat chandeliers. The setting is beautiful by the river in the narrow valley.
The walk to it is worth it, if you are able to do it. All on the level and more or less circular walk. Very easy to find the way, tourist information will give you a map and help with directions. For some way you are walking paralell with the famous Flam Railway. Neat little houses and plenty of flowers to see on the way.
