The castle is large with many doors and gates. There is no guide that explains the history. Most of the signs are in Germany. It's best to join a group. The view from the top is Amazing.

We visited Kufstein as a day trip from Innsbruck. So easy with the great train system. Some of the fortress was closed being winter and a bit snowbound but it was an enjoyable stroll. The cable car gave a good view. The staff were helpful....More

We visited Kufstein on a whim and so happy we did. Stunning scenery, wonderful people, perfect. The Fortress gives a history insight along with unsurpassed views. All our friends think we built a massive snowman in the alps - this was a 15cm version on...More

The Fort you can access via a elevator. The fort has some exhibitions which are not suitable for children mainly (torture techniques). Views from the Fort a however very nice. What we really liked was the organ-play at noon (everyday). Great!!

The fortress is extensive, beautifully restored with lots of stairs, small rooms and even underground tunnels. The tour is interesting, well-marked and informative. The view is superb. You access it by funicular (included in ticket price) or long, steep climb. The fortress was started around...More

There is an audio tour that you can download and do your own guided tour. It was a bit long in places for me, but then you can just skip to the next bit. I can't remember if they did tours led by a human guide or not. Sorry.
