Staff were very accommodating and helpful. Found us someone who could drive us to our next destination as the "good" busses were no longer operational. Pedro was also fantastic shuttling us around n his own vehicle.
We also received a free upgrade upon arrival.

The lake is endless. We had fish in Margoths restaurant, fresh from the lake. And a beautifull view. I strongly recommend to visit this lake. It’s beautifull and not disturbed by boats or harbors. If you like nature and a great scene with mountains and rainforest around the sea, this is the place to visit beside the Islas de Bahia in Honduras.

Don't just drive by the lake - try to either hang out at a restaurant alongside the lake (timed with the sunset) or take a boat into it to really see it from all angles.

We visited the region for 5 days and had a great time. The lake is beautifully nestled in rain forrest mountains. Water quality is moderate (not crystal clear blue). Air is also hazy due to amount of trash and other things burning. Boat or kayaking the lake is a great activity. There is a great river walk/feed area to the lake at Los Naranjos. There is also a park there that's free to enter and walk. Recommend for a half day activity.

Lake Yojoa is a beautiful area, with a number of towns along its shore. If travelling between San Pedro and Tegucigalpa this destination is a great idea to break up the trip. We stayed in Agua Azul, a small village around 9km away from the larger town Pena Blanca. To get to these areas you can take a bus from San Pedro/Tegus that stops off at La Guama. From there you can take a taxi or Tuk Tuk to other areas. There are a number of hotel and hostel options around the lake and there are a number of activities such as canoeing on the lake, bird Watching or visiting waterfalls that you can do.

Is one of the best places in Honduras. Yo can't come to Honduras without going to the Lake Yojoa. Is a perfect place because of its view, the restaurants and to explore the mountains.

From El Progreso we made a day trip up to Lake Lago Yojoa. It was a nice ride, and well worth it. The lake is beautiful, as is the scenery around.
The lake is bordered by a line of fish restaurants. Make sure you stop and eat fish. I love fish, and was not disappointed at all. I highly recommend it.

This a large lake with varied habitats. As a bird watcher walk the road at the south end between the lake and the farm fields. Go for a tour of the lake in a rowboat that enters the lake from a canal.

Lake Yojoa is the largest natural lake in Honduras, surrounded by mountains and formed by a volcano. The northern part of the lake near Las Naranjos Park is the most spectacular part of lake, sitting in the shadow of Santa Barbara mountain, the second largest peak in Honduras. Along the bank there are plenty of small shops to rent kayaks on the lake. Surrounding the lake are several parks including my favorite Parque Nacional Cerro Azul Meambar. You can easily fill two or more days here swimming, kayaking, birdwatching, hiking in cloud forests, seeing waterfalls and more.
