This place is around 11km from medak city in state of telangana .There is a deer breeding center and we need to go for a ride around the sanctuary to watch all animals. We spotted lot of white spot deers, sambars, peacocks. We can find some water birds in the backwaters of pocharam lake like spot bill, ducks,Lesser whistling ducks, purple herons etc.We paid 100 rs per head and they allowed us on safari in our own vehicle

Its a small Sanctuary and one can see deers, peacocks & Neel guy roaming around. You can go for an hour of tour in your own car. The forest guard says its 30 min only but with all the photography & bird watching, it easily gets extended to an hour.

In Itself, its not worth drive from Hyderabad.

So we clubbed it with few other things.

Our itinerary was:

7.30 am - Leave Hyd, take a short break on road for quick tiffin at roadside.
10.30 - Reached Pocharam Sanctuary
10.30 - 12 - Safari
Pocharam back water reservoir & eating the packed lunch
3 pm - 4.30 - Medak Fort
5 pm - Early dinner at Haritha Hotel on Medak fort
7 pm - Back on our way to Hyd

Haritha Resort situated directly on the fort has great views & required no advance booking. So anyone wants more leisure, they can book a room for the night. Enjoy early morning climb to the fort & leave for Hyd post lunch.

Our 3 kids enjoyed the day & had fun

Sanctuary has lots of deers and birds. Sanctuary alone can not be a all day trip. You can finish sanctuary in 2-3 hours. you can visit Pocharam dam which very near by. After that you can visit Medak fort. You may not find good restaurants near by.

Good - Church is beautiful. Avoid Sundays as it is crowded on Sundays
Pocharam Wildlife sanctuary - don't expect to get access to sanctuary. There is a small park but not worth stopping. Continue up the road to the reservoir and it is nice scenic spot. When we went there it was brimming with water. There is a 100 year old building called the rest house, but due to lack of maintenance it is in a dilapidated state.
Bad- there are no eateries here. So get your stomach filled in Medak only - 16 km away.
Ugly - As usual, the place has not been developed as a tourism spot, not even basic facilities. A place at 2 hr drive from Hyderabad can be marketed as a nice day-trip destination, provided some facilities are created, and the place is kept clean. This will also generate some additional employment in the area.

It is very peaceful and it contains many birds and animals. But I felt that the facilities for the animals are to be improved.

It is one of the worthless place to visit. 1st of all their entry ticket is not worth. You can take your car inside the forest trail of 4.5 km. The entry fee of car is 100 rs apart from that each member ticket is 20 rs.
Hardly you may able to see some deer apart from 200-300 mts and some jungle pig ..Total forest trail take hardly 15-20 min and worthless.
