Visited Pothundy dam on the way back from Nelliyampathi. The garden and kids play area are well maintained. The reservoir offers great view with the mountains as the backdrop.
Note: One needs to climb more than a hundred steps from the garden to reach the reservoir.

On the way to nelliampathy you can see this dam with full of water and nature greenish background. Place for kids playing and small garden and lawns available to spend quite time with family and friends.

The dam is located at the base of Nelliyampathy hills - climbing up the dam, you see some excellent views of the reservoir.

Also if you drive up a little further, you can see the lower deck view of the reservoir, which is amazing. At various points as you drive Nelliyampathy, views of the Pothundy reservoir shows up. The most dramatic view of the reservoir is though from the Kesavanpara view point right on top of the Nelliyampathy hill.

Considered to be one of the oldest dams, this is a well maintained dam. It is at the foothills of the Nelliyampathy hills. The dam is unique because it is built with an earth filled structure. It is on the way to Nelliyampathy Hills.

Our visit was off season as I understood. Whilst the water levels were low, we viewed it from a vantage point on our way up to the Nelliyampathi Hills and it was breath taking.

Pothundy reservoir / dam is a very beautiful place located about 10 to 15 min (8 kms) drive from Nemmara town. Public transport is very limited, hence it's advisable to make suitable arrangements. The attraction here comprises of the garden, park & the walking track on top of the dam. It's a nice place to visit for families & couples. There is a small shop selling snacks & beverages. The garden is well maintained & the visitors are charged a nominal entry fee. The best part of the attraction is the walking track on top of the reservoir. To get to the top of the reservoir, the visitors needs to take a few steep steps from the garden. View from the top is absolutely stunning. It literally breathtaking. You could view Nemmara & surrounding area on one side & the serene westers ghats & Nelliampathy hills on the other side. Its nature at its best!!!! Must visit. Absolutely recommended!!!!
