From Aryankavu, Thenmala dam is around 15 kms - takes around 30 minutes. An either side you have excellent views of the running streams in shallow valleys and gigantic railway bridges. Quite a photogenic site during rainy days and not on sunny days, as was the day. They charge Rs.10 per adult and Rs.5 for children; Rs.10 for the car... More

We visited with family members and had enjoyed well. The walk from gate to dam top was fantastic and joyful. We were thrilled by the brilliant view of lake & mountain surrounding it. The gigantic dam construction really excited us and it is worth spending time in the dam top. Our kids enjoyed very well and good opportunity to see... More

This is a nice little dam in Thenmala. You can reach this place from Trivandrum or Kollam. You can take the entry ticket only for the dam (INR 10) or along with the leisure zone of the thenmala ecotour. Budget around 1.5 hours to enter and exit the dam. Photography is not allowed inside the dam.

We had a beautiful ride from Trivandrum to Thenmala via car. The forest route is really refreshing as we can breath fresh air, can watch animals (monkeys can be spotted many times) On the way, you can take bath in small streams. Walking in boating point is really good. Most of the places offers breathtaking views, photographers can enjoy the... More

Thenmala DamThenmala is a village located along the valley of the southern ends of Western Ghats in Kerala. Located in Kollam district, it is the first planned eco-tourism destination in India. The word "thenmala" literally means "mountain flowing with honey". The place derives its name from the abundance of honey along the forests here.
