I wonder how this beautiful temple was built. Located away from the city the place is very peaceful. I heard the place still gets crowded on some special occasions and festivals. The architecture inside after breathtaking. Held the soul. Do visit it!

A must visit temple for every shiv bhakt and architecture lover. Words cannot justify the beauty of the temple. One has to see it in person how beautiful the temple is.... Just 2km from Ambernath station and 50 Km from Mumbai. Amazing creativity done in one night by Pandavas.

This ancient shiva temple from 11th century is truly a hidden gem. Situated in Ambernath it is only couple of hours drive from Mumbai. It is also known as the Ambreshwar Shiva Temple. The stone curvings on the temple are simply amazing.
Unfortunately, the temple is not maintained properly. We visited the site in an evening. There was hardly any light in the premises. We couldn't see the curvings clearly. The temple compound and the surroundings were not clean. I wish some authorities like ASI to take care of the temple.

This Thousand year old temple is a masterpiece of Shaivait Pratha.
The first picture with intact Shikhar is of Baijnath Temple in Himachal Pradesh ; so don't be misled by it.
The pictures showing collapsed shikhar are the correct ones. It happened due to an earthquake.
"Ambarnath Shivalaya by Kumud Kanitkar" is an excellent book to understand its design and history. She explains every Murti around the Parikrama.

I stay in Ambernath hence i have visited this temple several times. The Shiv Mandir of Ambarnath is Hemadpanthi-styled temple which is beautifully carved on stones. This temple was built in 1060 AD and said to be that the temple was built by the five Pandava brothers in just one night in a huge single mass of stone.
It is situated 2 km away from Ambarnath (East) railway station in Maharashtra, India and cab be easily reached by an auto rickshaw.
The carvings on this temple is superb and a person definitely stay amazed by seeing the accuracy of this building.
There not anything much around this temple but during Mahashivratri this area gets choco-blocked due to Shiva Festival.
Though this temple is beautiful, I did not see any effort by the government to preserve this master piece of architecture.

This is one the hidden treasures in and around ambernath that's short drive away from mumbai/thane
The temple itself is mesmerizing beautiful with old hemadpanthy building style
The garbh gruh or inner sactorium is deep down like any typical shiva temple
Attended the aarti
That was totally divine experience

The temple is nice and has history associated with it. But the river adjacent to it is not very clean and disturbs overall ambiance of the temple. Local authorities should look into this.
